They can't do anything that would give BMW an advantage, like allowing them to use replacement engines. Otherwise all the teams would start dropping their engines so that they could use new ones.

Mario T expressed concern at the state of the valve trains. Valves are very precision items and even rev limited F1 engines reach very high revs. I think it's quite plausible that there is serious concern.

if those are unused engines, i dont see why they cant rip em apart and rebuild em.. not like they are building new engines, still within the capable limits right??

Unfair on other teams if the new valves give them an advantage.


but they arent race engines they were friday engines so they arent counted towards their 8 for the season until they are used on a saturday.

Yeh but its also unfair if they can't run on Fridays because they have no practice engines.

It's someone else's fault? I didn't notice that in the original post. If it was FOM that dropped the engines, not BMW's own staff/contractors, then that changes things.
