Looking at the performance of KERS cars, they started off poor, then got better. But when a capable driver such as Fisichella swaps cars, he's slow. And in particular, we saw Fisi KERSed by Kovi out of the pits.

Is there any possibility that part of what held KERS cars back at the beginning of the season is that it takes a fair while to get used to driving the cars?

I'm not sure about this myself, as I'd expect the drivers to adapt quickly. But it could help explain some of what we've seen.

In defence of Fisi I think swapping any cars mid season will be hard to get to terms with setup wise straight away. Youre racing in a car all year that becomes apart of you, you know it inside out then all the sudden youre in a totally different car with different characteristics and you have to start all over again in making it an extension of you. KERS the reason? i dont think so as we have seen Grosjean and Algusuari struggle with their mid season jump into F1. The drivers need alot of miles to get used to these cars and with the testing ban that is impossible.

I think Ferrari over the last couple of years have produced cars that are very difficult to drive anyway. Their aero setup seems to be very knife-edge and they have been easy on their tyres which means they aren't generating as much tire temperature as other cars. In the wet last year, we also saw how the Ferrari engine is very peaky, like the old Cosworth DFVs so I would imagine that this year, with a fairly suspect aero package, compromised weight distribution and the strange braking behavior that occurs because of KERS, this years Ferrari must be a bit of a handful.

Agreed. The Ferrari does seem more of a handful to drive, and certainly Brundle has mentioned during commentary how much of a handful the ferrari has looked at times.

The braking seem to be the biggest issue for Fisi. But he's still doing far better than Badoer. Brazil has always been a great track for Fisi, so lets hope he can score his first ferrari point here.

I know this is a bit off topic but there is reasoning behind it. If Fisi is to score a point for Ferrari he has 2 races until the end of the season,
then I thought, no he has 1 if Massa comes back.
then I thought I am only assuming that if Massa does come back for the last race, who is to say he is not going to be in Kimi's car!?!?!?

now that last point is interesting, but I still think kimi enjoys driving, and fisis is only there to replace massa.
