After this last race, I wonder if the sport has turned into just a televised show of a private racing club, where the teams and drivers are the only ones enjoying the thing. This race was absolutely dismal, having the cars separated and seemingly running by themselves. No overtaking, no close racing...What's going on?

I was quite happy about having a SC released near the end of the race, and even then it just turned out to be a high-speed parade.

:(

Come on, there are other racing leagues that manage to get close racing without spec cars. Why can't that be achieved recently in F1?

You're right about the last race, it was indeed boring.

That said, nascar's slow motion "overtaking" is meaningless until the last few laps. I'd rather F1 watch drivers navigate through complex circuits without overtaking compared to that.

Two cents.

i still get a buzz from watching F1 even without much overtaking.

I usually get a buzz from other things, but know what you mean 8-):)

Yep, you got one of those back and neck massage things or a foot-spa.

I know what the OP means, it was a bit unusual for Suzuka but could it have been due to such a lack of setup time during practice and everyone being cautious after the events in quali?

its tough because f1 is spoiled with advanced technology and $$$$ development, it would be hard to get rid of it all.. Maybe if they decided to get rid of the wings lol

maybe supplying default wings for all teams

F1 has certainly seen better days.
Lately I hardly watch the races at all and prefer to update myself at a later stage. its boring now with all its crappy politics and s***.
Hopefully next season will provide some excitement with ferrari being in better shape.

I honestly have no idea...Maybe having 28 cars next year might help?

I just see it being that more back markers will get lapped. I think getting rid of the dirty air is the way forward, how do you do that? well for a start get rid of double diffusers. infact get rid of diffusers in total. that way cleaner air and closer running. better slipstreaming. it's all good

Again I am one of those people who enjoys Formula one and motorsport in general, for a number of reasons, and believe that Overtaking is only one of the race's many dimensions.

However I was a little disappointed that the 4lap sprint at the end didn't produce one piece of overtaking.

It's also sad that the safety car has to be relied on to create any excitement.
