Does anyone else find this a bit odd that Ferrari seemed to want to point this out with document in-hand on live TV?

I agree its prob to show that Ferrari aren't pulling this out of nowhere. If anyone denies Massa a test then they are idiots.

Who fecking cares, the lad nearly died after that 1kg lump of metal hit him full on in the head. Ecclestone and co at the FIA need a kick up the arse for banning testing, look at how those rookies have performed this year, how many accidents have they caused? yep shed loads. You cannot take kids out of GP2 and shove them in F1 cars and expect them to drive to the standards of Alonso, Raikonnen, Button etc etc.

What this of course all comes down to, is what the hell would be achieved by banning him from testing? It sure beats throwing massa into a f1 race and having him blacking out or something.

Well, they are letting rookie drivers do some testing now, before jumping into a race cockpit.

Massa will go testing regardless of what the other teams say anyway. There is no problem driving an old F1 car with GP2 tyres. Ferrari don't gain a competitive advantage, its for the sake of checking Massa is fit to drive.

Keen to learn more about how Massa himself views these tests, I have spoken to my Brazilian colleagues and there is one in particular who is very well informed on Massa’s movements and plans.
He tells me that Massa is keen to race in Abu Dhabi. He will travel to Paris after the run on the simulator where he will be checked over by doctors, presumably Jean Todt’s friend Professor Gerard Saillant. if he gives him the all clear and the test in the 2007 car is okay, then Massa intends to ask Ferrari to let him race at Abu Dhabi.
He would still need to pass the FIA medical tests drivers returning from injury must go through.
My Brazilian colleague tells me that Massa is in very good shape, he had no brain trauma and his eyesight is 100%.

Good news then. It'd certainly be nice to see Massa back driving for at least one race. But only if he is as they say, 100% fit and nothing less.
