Bunch of idiots both Massa and Ferrari regarding this. Renault cheated in Singapore 2008 and it effected Massa and Ferrari. Would should be rightfully done is that everyone be allowed to keep their positions and wins etc since it would be impossible to work out who would of finished where had Renault not cheated. What should be done is that all points scored be removed from those who scored points in that race. This would then make Massa the world champion of 2008. Clearly he is the rightful world champion. Had Renault not cheated, Massa would of won the championship. But regardless, because of cheating that happened in Singapore of 2008, no one should be allowed to score points in that race.

Had Renault not cheated Massa could of had the pistop issue during that race anyway, or any of the other races down the line.

You can't say that. A different result at Singapore would have meant different results at the final three races. So, just omit the results of those three races plus Singapore, yeah? Hamilton would have 78 points, Massa would have 77 points.

I'd have no problem with them discounting that race if they'd done it immediately following the incident. However, that race wasn't discounted immediately and as a result it had an effect on the rest of the season. We can't possibly know how each of the drivers would have performed without the points from Valencia, therefore it's unfair to discount them.

Maybe so, but as for the priciple that the race was fixed all points from it should be withdrawn which will make Massa the World Champion of 2008.

No you'd just disqualify Alonso Meaning Nico wins a race and Lewis gets 2 more points.

Like in Oz for Lewis they didn't just wipe out the result there did they?

Its not like Piquet hit Massa as he made his crash, Ferrari made that mistake all on their own.

Actually if the FIA were to ever change the result now they would have had to void the entire event.

However they have chose not to, which is probably for the best. I mean think of all the problems it would have created.

No you cannot do that. Renault's cheating caused the safety car to come out and also rushed pit stops that caused errors. This wouldn't of happened had they not cheated. It threw all the positing out. So to be fair all points should be withdrawn. All points because had Renault not cheated the standings would of been different in the end. No matter if Massa had won that race or not, the top 8 would of been completetly differernt and you know it.

1. There was two Safety cars - so ferrari could of made the same mistake even if Nelson hadn't crashed

2. Massa spun anyway during the race - so he would of ended up down in the points anyway.

It doesn't matter. What matters is that Renault's cheating of that raced completely changed everything thing for that race. For all I know Lewis Hamilton could of won had Renault not cheated. But you cannot go back in time and re-run that race. What you can do is just not count it. Unfortuantly it wasn't known that Renault cheated until almost a year later. But this doesn't mean you cannot act now and annull it from the points standing. You can if you really want to. Just like Juventus was stripped of 2 Scudetti 2 and 3 years after they were won for match fixing.

The fact if they were to change a result now it would affect the championship, and to do so would be unfair.

Mclaren did not cheat during that race, Lewis won the WDC fair and square by scoring the most points.

Massa & Ferrari made mistakes during that race that they may of made anyway.
