So i started arguing with my friend about the ending of 2007. Everybody knows it was a disaster for McLaren fans. Well the thing is I said that in China it was Hamilton's mistake to drive off the lane, but he said the tyres were destroyed and that was the main reason why the "mistake" happened.

Then in Brazil when he went to overtake Alonso, it was his self-esteem that couldn't handle someone passing him. But when his car broke down for 10seconds or so..was it an electronical error or it was somehow Lewis' fault also?

I wasn't watching F1 in 07, but the review DVD I watched implied that his car broke down at China and that he made the mistakes at the start in Brazil, then had some car grief later on.

That's still an impressively small amount of errors in a rookie season. The difference being that he wasn't spinning off from the back of the grid, where no one cares.

In Brazil, it was apparently a gearbox issue, although it does look remarkably similar to Kovalainen's mistake in Australia 2008 where he hit the speed limiter and let Alonso by.

Aight then.. well in hamilton's book he says that all the bad luck and errors came in the last two races of the season and flushed their hard work down the toilet. Im so disgusted when i watch videos about it, thinking that he could have very easily been a champion in his rookie year. People would have more respect to him. has anybody ever won a WDC in his rookie year?

Farina, but only because that was the first year that the Formula One world championship was ever held.

If people don't like him then fair do's. But I don't understand why somebody wouldn't respect him - his skill and attitude is first rate.

2007 was part driver error, part misfortune. still is gutting to think about. no matter what your opinion on hamilton no one can take away the achievments of his debut year. i still rate silverstone 2008 as his best drive though.

IMHO it's misleading to do, as is often done, to say that Farina was a rookie. As Grand Prix racing predated the creation of Formula One and the championship. Farina won his first Grand Prix in 1940, ten years before he won the championship.

In China it was part team part driver.

The team opted to keep Lewis out to ensure they got the win, but the tires de laminated and the pitlane still being wet - he just skidded off.

Brazil

Part Driver - Part Car

He didn't need to do what he did when Alonso passed him he should of just cruised around in 4th and tried something at the pits perhaps.

But the car problem weather it was lewis or not didn't help.

It was a fantastic first season up against three other excellent drivers in similar cars. Shame about the end two races but poo happens. Cant take that debut away from him though. I agree with the previous poster about his 2008 Silverstone drive, I was there, it was magic :cloud9:
