I've been thinking about this since yesterday, and i'm still not convinced. He has the fire to chase a championship, may have a decent car next season, but I can't see whether he has that extra ingredient necessary to win races on a regular basis.

If you look at what David Coulthard has, or hasn't, accomplished in twelve years of F1 you'll see my point. He had a car under him that could win championships, but was completely overshadowed by his team-mates whilst with McLaren.

I hope he proves me wrong.

I disagree, he seems one of the more down to earth drivers. Does everything as a team and never blames one asset of that. On Top Gear a few months back he said that he would give up his lifestyle in Monaco, the fast cars, money etc just for a single win in F1 - I think his head is in the right place.

Agreed, Jenson has been driving complete dogs for his whole F1 career, I had very high hopes for him when he got his first drive in F1.

To those who claim he hasn't got the will to be a front runner I will just point out that he bought himself out of a contract with Williams when he thought he would have a better chance of winning in a different car.

Can anyone here say that Rubens would rather spend 10 mill of his own cash than drive in a car that he KNOWS wont win, would Alonso? Would Hamilton?

I just wish there were more people in F1 that would have the utter balls to spend a good few years wages on what they hoped (and for Jenson I hope comes true) would be the team they will eventually win WDC with.

Yeah, he has his priorities straight. That doesn't mean his head's in a good place though. He's appearing from the outside to be desperate and in a state of panic - begging questions whether he believes himself and whether he's scared of losing.

I don't think people should be questioning his commitment though.

In a desperate state of panic? Am I the only person who has heard his team radio where he has told his engineers to "calm down."

In his last publicised interview he states... "I know that's a fact, for sure. But my aim is to win the world championship and I'm not going to take any unusual risks.

"I'm just going to drive like I have been and hopefully that will be enough."

This IS NOT a desperate state of panic.

The contrary is quite true - i think he is very much in control. yes the car wasnt too good now and then but i think he absolutely wont do anything dumb that can screw up his chances.
