Hi everyone!
For years I've been a great fan of Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella. It all started when he won a grand prix in Jordan 2003, but due to misscounting he was only car #2 over the finishline in the wet race...

Last year was another good season for Fisi, even if he didn't have any opportunity to challenge with Alonso. But this year has been a total mess (especially the the second part) for the Italian.

Nothing seems to work out in the R27 for Giancarlo, the speed isn't there anymore. The carsetting seem on the other hand to suit Kovalainen perfectly, who has been far quicker than his older teammate.

Now I'm actually really worried. A seat for 2008 in the Renault chassis has decreased race after race... What will happen to Fisi do you think?

Still I'm convinced that he's hell of a driver when the mechanics can deliver a car that suits him! :S

Good question, I think we'll still see him in F1 next year. As you know Fisichella does more than just drive most Grand Prix weekends, he's heavily involved in GP2 and will likely be a major player in F1 in the years to come.

I like fisi but i personally dont rate him too well as a driver.

From what I have seen, Flavio and the renault honchos dont take too well to underperformance (youre right GianFisi I think the dynamics of the car arent too well suited to his style) so Im not really confident of a future renault drive.

Hopefully we will see him in F1 next year though -super aguri maybe ..

I agree with you that believes we'll notice Fisichellas name in a less competitive team next year. Hopefully he can do a better performance there, compared to the material that's in his hands right now.

I think he did a better job both in Benetton, Jordan and Sauber earlier than what's reality today. He doesn't seem to be able to handle the pressure that's a part of the top, I guess he prefer to be a underdog.

But I haven't claimed that he drives that bad nowadays either. This season has been spolied by his unableness to generate the right grip and also due to a lot of unlucky happenings.

Just look at the race in USA (or if it was Spain?), where he started from position 20 or something and pushed up to p9. It might not sound that impressive, but don't you remember that he did like 5-6 awesome overtakes just by the limit (in a car that's a shadow of last years version)?! That's entertainment! =)

I agree and he is also going to be opening a motorsport's school sometime in the distant future. I'm sure we will see him driving next season or atleast I hope so as I have alway's liked Fisi.

Fisichella seems a nice guy, however, I don't rate him as a driver at all. Let's be honest, he's taken a right a whipping from Alonso and now Kovalainen is wiping the floor with him. I think he will be in Formula One next year, but I can't see him in Renault or a decent car.

Agreed McLaren Fan. I reckon he'll be lucky to get a drive., certainly in 2009 if not next year. Too much raw talent coming through the pipeline.

If Fizzy was in this situation back in the late 80's he would have stayed in F1 but he would have dropped well down the field to a midfield struggler like Dallara or even worse a DNPQ specialist like Eurobrun or Coloni. Back in those days there were plenty of midfield strugglers.
