Yeah, that makes sense. Hamilton went on and on to the press about how he doesn't want Alonzo as his team mate next year and all but vowed vengance at the first corner. When asked what would happen at the first corner, Alonzo said, "Nothing". Now if Ferrari hadn't idiotically started their cars on intermediates, it would have been a great race.

Yet it was Alonso who, after today's race, openly admitted that he hopes for Lewis to crash.

No, when asked about his championship chances, Alonso said that Lewis would have to have an unlucky race.

Some people are pathetic, how can anyone hate lewis, he's done nothign wrong but go out there and prove what he can do. If you can't see he's worthy your either, stupid, blind, death or just plain jealous.

Check his history, everything thing hes done hes earned, every race series he entered he left a mark, and now that will include F1 as he takes hes first of many WDC

I'm sorry but I disagree with some of the points here, Hamilton drove a great race today and did nothing to contravene the rules of F1. If you watch the tape back, Webber was more likely to take Lewis out, and the Brit said as much in his post race interview.

Can we try and move away from the anti-Hamilton feeling on here. I don't follow the guy myself, but I do rate him over Alonso as a better all round package. Alonso was completely outclassed today, but that's no reason to rubbish the great efforts of Lewis. And before anyone brings up the popularity of Hamilton among drivers, I can say that he is well liked in the paddock - whereas Alonso can't even get on with his own team!

Very well said! Every time Lewis proves another point (this time that he CAN drive in rain) Anti Lewis people have to make up bad things about him. It gets annoying!!

He did superb job, qualified first and won the most difficult race in the season. He deserves to be this season's champ, no doubt.

I'm just hoping he will mature in a following years and become more likeable person (from my point of view, at least; others might find him absolutely charming just as he is now).

Like some others believe and have stated I think what we see of Lewis in the media is very much a front but unlike those who think he is a talented spoiled brat, I think he is a very talented, determined and ruthless racer which are qualities required to be at the top of any sport whether you like them or not.

There is no doubt that LH did a great job. But he wasn't the best out there. Kimi's come back, also webber, damn even massa/kubica fight showed their skills. We don't know if LH is that good untill he finds himself in such challenging conditions. He definitely is a lucky man. He get hit by kubica but his car didn't suffer any damage while webber and alonso are thrown out of the race by vettel.

Webber yes, Alonso No, please get your facts right Fact Man, Alonso was having problems after his pit stop (before the collision with Vettel) and afterwards stated that he didn't think the damage caused by Vettel had anything to do with his exit from the race.

Can you show me where he said it wasn't vettel's fault. Let's talk about facts

From crash.net
"Even so, Alonso's afternoon quickly began to unravel as he battled to regain lost ground, enjoying a couple of off-track moments before being tipped into a spin by Sebastian Vettel and dropping back to a net fifth place.

It got worse on lap 42 when he lost control of his damaged car coming out of turn five and slammed into the barriers, coating the circuit with debris and doing plenty more damage to his machine.

"A difficult race in difficult conditions. After my pit stop I came out into traffic and was fighting for positions in the field. It was very difficult to see anything because of the spray especially when you were coming down the straight. As a result I did not see Vettel in my mirrors and was surprised when he hit me. I think the car was damaged quite a bit by that, but I was able to continue."

I remember before he was out, they showed the damaged right side of his car.

I remember a couple of times before his car was damaged that he lost control and was having problems, and from Alonsos own mouth that he didn't think the damage contributed to the accident.

Yes, yes, yes, I agree. I am sick of the Lewis Hamilton Circus!!!! If everyone can remember ,Montoya was severely dealt with when he did the brake testing. Now Hamilton does it and it's fine. I also notice that he cuts across other drivers at the start and during the race, which other drivers have been picked up on. His attitude when speeking is very arrogent and un sportsman-like. The comentators can't get enough of him, saying he had a faultless race---what about the spins off the track? He is bad news for the sport. And one other thing - why does he need his father, brother, cousin and dog at every race, bragging and grinning? The whole thing makes me sick, and I am considering giving up on F1 as a result of Hamiltons inclusion.

Everyone was losing control at some point. As for Alonso's statement, please help me in here and provide me with some documentation.

Alonso was driving with a damaged car after contact with Sebastian Vettel, but did not believe that was a factor in his accident.

"I don't think so, to be honest," he said.

"I had aquaplaning and the car was into the wall.

"I think aerodynamics were not an important factor today."

Break testing?? Are you real? Lewis is leading a race behind a safety car in appalling conditions, a race which could be crucial to the world championship and he decides to start break testing Mark Webber? Why? you think he wanted Mark to run in the back of him and put him out? Lewis could go no faster, he had a safety car in front of him which he is not allowed to overtake. The montoya incident(and I was an ardent Montoya supporter!) was a completely different incident. Montoya lost his wrag and was being a silly boy.

Spinning off the track? Didnt see that.

Family at the track? Most drivers have family at the track. Whats that got to do with anything?

If LH is a champion, then there are ten other champions int he paddock too. I have no doubt he is a great driver, but its hard to fail when you have everything handed to you on a plate. Lets put LH in a back of the pack car and see how he goes. Give his McLaren to Webber, Vettel, Rosberg, Kubica, etc and guess what. Instant champion!
