Whilst i'm agreeing with you myownalias, Briatore is not alone in bending the rules.

But I agree he actually bent them so much that the morality of his actions snapped right off.. :P

Don't agree with me, I get scared when people agree with me :P But yes there is always bending of the rules in any sport but when it goes into this kind of bending of rules, punishment has to be swift and appropriate, in this case I think that has been the true with Briatore's lifetime ban from FIA sanctioned events.

True, I also think that the FIA have wanted something like this for a lonnnnnnnnng time.

ya I guess but i think more mad max. very happy to get at flav while still in power. I do think banning the man for life was a bit harsh. max really turning the knife there.

I'm 100% sure that Flavio Briatore has bent the rules to the max over the years, which just adds to my comments about him not being a good guy, it wouldn't surprise me if Briatore was the one that told Schumacher to t-bone Damon Hill in '94 after the German hit the wall! Getting away with little things in the past was common, but these days everything is scrutinised and gets punished, McLaren's "lie-gate" was a good example, Lewis got stripped of his points for finishing fourth and rightly so because he agreed to lie. From now on expect an investigation every time someone crashes and it benefits their team mate. The more things like this happen, the tighter the scrutiny will be, it's get to the point where a driver can't even breath without being scrutinised, F1 really doesn't need more scrutiny.

Also, Benetton were running traction control in 1994. Outside of Formula One, Briatore has been involved in a few cases of fraud as well. The man is a crook.
