You know its not a good sign when a race starts with the safety car. You can hear the drivers telling their race engineers that its impossible to see. After the race, Rubens said it was the most dangerous race of his career, Nick, Nico, Jenson, Kubica, Kimi, etc. all agreed that the race should have been cancelled for the safey of the drivers. We are want to see a good race, but the last thing I want to see is a driver seriouly injured for my entertainment. The race should have been cancelled not because of the rain, but because of zero visibility and fog. The idiot that does the F1 scheduling should be fired, who the hell would schedule a race in Sept. in Fuji? during the raining season.

That's true. But having said that, they need to be able to drive in as safe an evironment as possible.

Given that the sport is highly safe and is supposed to have an element of risk, one of the reasons they are paid millions, then what have they to complain about? By being a racing driver you accept there is a chance you may be seriously or fatally hurt. Fair enough, if the race is rediculously unsafe, then it should be stopped, but I think we were far from that.

I agree! One of the thing's that F1 pride's itself on is they race regardless of the condition's. If a driver does not feel safe he can pullout of the race just as Nikki Lauda did which gave the championship to Jame's Hunt in the '76 Japanese GP.

Yes they are paid to drive but they have a RIGHT to a race in a safe enviroment. Lets say you are paid to work at your job and you should work no moan, but there's a gas leak in the building and its unsafe, would you still sit at your desk and work or speak up?? The FIA is obligated to present a safe racing enviroment and a safe race car to all the drivers, they have taking great steps in developing safety features from race cars to they way the medical team handle injuries, but then they send out drivers in a zero visibility race?? While some top drivers are paid handsomely, what about the bottom drivers?? Anybody that want to see a good crash for their entertainment is purely stupid or maybe they should just watch Nascar.

The FIA is obligated to present a safe racing enviroment and a safe race car to all the drivers, While some top drivers are paid handsomely, what about the bottom drivers?? Anybody that want to see a good crash for their entertainment is purely stupid or maybe they should just watch Nascar.

I don't see anything about the FIA being obligated to do any such thing. The bottom drivers will not be driving unless they think they can become top drivers and earn lots of money... individual risk/reward assessment is the name of the game here rather than some doolally health and safety directive. More players are crippled in the NFL than in F1... grow up. Nobody was hurt and it was a good race.

There is nothing in the rules that say a driver HAS TO race if he feels its unsafe to do so. No body is putting a gun to their heads and making them race If they thought it too dangterouse to race they should have parked up in their garages. No good moaning , that achives nothing

No I wouldn't. There's a difference in racing in the rain and racing in zero visiblity. Just don't want to see anyone hurt, even Alonso.

Inorder to drive in F1 you must have a great ego and some big balls. You must think you are the best inorder to compete at that level. That being said, once they are straped into the car, they don't want to let the them down, the sponsors down, the people at the factory down, and people that think they should race for their enjoyment no matter the situation. Once you are in the car and the race has started and you are driving at 170mph, adrenalin is at a high level and you don't want to think about getting hurt because if you do, then you will. Did you listen to the radio conversations, drivers are yelling into the radio that they can't see. They are not complaining about it being wet, they just can't see.

More players are crippled in the NFL than in F1... grow up. Nobody was hurt and it was a good race.

Guessed you don't follow much about the NFL. You have guys banging heads against each other for 60 minutes with 32 teams with 60 players on each team, do the math and there's only on major injury with a player from the Jets in the last 20 years. Then again, they aren't driving in zero visibility at 170mph and screaming into the radio that they can't see.

Funny that BMW! how do you you explain this:

Everett injured his neck and was transported to a hospital.

This was the first entry I came across when I Googled NFL injuries. Note the dateline 09 Sept 07.
Looks like the Buffalo Bills had a great game! Who exactly was damaged in the Fuji race? What is your sport? Synchronised swimming perhaps? It certainly isn't NFL.
