but you could say that the way that Williams broke ranks from FOTA was a bit of a dirty move. Due to William doing what they needed to do to survive.

I am sure there are people that think Renault needed to get results to survive last year.

Yeah but Williams was looking after themsleves and only (only - haha) broke a promise? no?

I agree but I was trying to make the point that everyone has to do what they need to to survive. be it breaking a promise to FOTA, using the information from another team. or even crashing a car.

It is easy for us to say no that is wrong but we have not got a bored of directors putting us under a load of pressure to get some race results.

Maybe there was a part of Alonso's contract saying he had to win a race or he was free to drive else where. I think Renault (parent company) hold a lot of regard for Alonso.

You make a good point

The answer is simple: Formula One is arguably the diriest sport out there. In fact, you could make an argument to say that Formula One is barely a sport anymore, given the influence of the FIA, FOM, massive amounts of sponsorship, benefits for host countries, etc.

Out of all the old school teams on the current Grid, i think only williams are the most honest.

Nope, Williams were caught with illegal brake ducts. But like a flexi-floor and extra brake pedals, there's a serious question whether this is actually knowing cheating, or simply engineers pushing the boundaries of the rules through the grey areas, and getting it wrong. Or perhaps just discovering that the FIA who wrote the ambiguous rules has suddenly decided that they meant something different.

The rules this year were quite ambiguous as to whether the double decker diffusers were legal or not. The FIA clarification was that they are legal, but if they'd gone the other way, the double decker diffuser teams would have been "cheating". It's just not the same thing.

Asking drivers to deliberately crash, or bald faced lying to try to get a competitor disqualified is in an entirely different ballpark.

I'd go with pushing the rules on that one, rather than cheating.

and you always get abit of that from season to season this year for example.

F1 as we now know it will never be controversy free, it comes down to, imo, how much one want's to read into it? I love the sport and alway's will regardless of all the politic's etc etc that are involved.

I like all the hoopla and such - it's always been part of F1. What else would we be talking about as much? Pussycat Doll's dumped or not?
