yeah, don't think anything broke but he had been getting a fair bit of wheelspin coming out of the corners anyway.

good to see him with the mind of taking it to the flag even though he didn't make it that far and who wouln't have liked to see him catch up a lap or two earlier and have a bit of a battle with button?

It's no secret he pushes at all costs. The other day in chat, I mentioned him and Kimi as "oil and water" because they're both very strong-willed drivers (and NOT anything with regard to ethnicity) aka not a good mix. Pairing those two could wind up with both McLarens out fighting for a tight corner IMHO.

A thought I just had. Previously I was thinking it's not too much of an issue as he's not racing for the championship now and he was just racing for the race and although he probably wouldn't be able to pass Button his only chance being to keep pressure on button and force some sort of mistake. If he'd done that and Button had gone out of the race or lost a few places then Lewis would still be in the title race mathematically, as it is now and would've been anyway if he'd settled for 3rd it's the only time in his F1 career so far that he's been out of title contention other than at the end of Brazil 07.

Competing for the race win? What was he smoking when he gave that interview? He would have had to pass button and then chase down Rubens and pass him in ITALY....with how many laps to go? Has Italy become an easy place to pass in this alternate reality that Hamilton is living in? The man is daft. He has completely taken leave of his senses. He made a stupid mistake....and as for that hardcore comment....ROFL. Whatever chief. After the team screwed him a while back, I thought his interview was very adult and top notch. Now he screws the team and rather than just take the blame like a man, he tries to make it sound like he screwed them while trying to save them from the horribly terrible embarrassment of a podium finish in Italy. Pffft. He really needs to fire daddy and get someone to teach him how to speak to reporters.

I am a racer thanks, and as such I know that while in third with one lap to go, you are not competing for the win, despite his assertions otherwise. Crashing out of an F1 race where you are a shoe in for the podium is not doing your team any favors either. Points in F1 are income....replacing a thrashed car is expense. There is a pretty large difference between that income figure and the expense figure and all teams need money...even McLaren.

It's funny how you are tired of hearing the same old people talk the same old s*** and yet your line hasn't changed one bit either. He is still the best on the grid in your mind, which is cool with me, we are all entitled to our opinions (unless the differ from yours eh?)...just don't expect me to agree with you. I was impressed with the interview after his team screwed him and I said as much...this one though, is a fall back to his old ways of talking himself up more than he deserves. He crashed out of third place....and he thinks he deserves some praise for it? Nah. As far as the same old s*** comment goes...I praised him when he did well in the interview which shows I can reverse my position....yet, when...have you EVER said he is less than perfect? Which of us is sticking to the same old s*** mate?

point is when ever lewis makes a mistake he gets drilled more than most. nothing he does is ever good enough its just tiring hearing the same people say the same thing. You race dont you? if you were gaining on the car infront wouldnt you push that extra bit just for the possiblity how ever small to have a shot at passing? I know i would, theres the difference to your last comment. I am a mere fan who am i to judge a world champion or any F1 driver for that matter. Hell man, I'm nobody. But even so I know that third place with a lap or two to go is FAR from competing for the win in an F1 race. It isn't that he made a mistake, it's the stupid garbage that seems to flow from his mouth after he does that cracks me up. It's nearly as funny as his fans who defend him even when what he says makes NO sense whatsoever. Tell me man, HOW was he competing for the win when he crashed? Under what circumstances could he possibly have won that race at that point? So when he says he crashed because he was pushing for the win...doesn't something in your mind cry bullpoo?

I am not bagging on the guy for making a racing mistake...that is part of the game. What bothers me about him is he never takes the blame when he makes a mistake. Run over Alonso on a straightaway...Alonso MUST have lifted (telemetry says otherwise). Run off the pitlane into a sand trap...team had him out too long on tires. Slam into the back of two parked cars in the pit lane....team failed to tell him about the red light. It is time and time again with this guy. He makes a LOT of mistakes, and that is cool...but for god's sake the least he could do when he makes a mistake is be silent about it rather than constantly seeking someone or some way to pass the buck. Hamilton is criticized more than any other driver eh? Tell that to Button for his last several years. Tell Badoer that....or for that matter ANY Ferrari driver in history. The fact is Hamilton is only criticized when he opens his mouth and says something stupid....which is usually directly after he has made some odd mistake on track, or just as often...in the pits.

In truth. I love the guy. Never before has someone I wanted to see lose given me so many reasons to be happy. Michael Schumacher was the last arrogant jerk driver that I always wanted to see lose...the problem was the man has unbelievable driving skills to back up his mouth....so he seldom made huge mistakes that cost his team millions. Hamilton on the other hand has delivered time and time again. Just this past race we were winding down to the end and I was going to have to see Hamilton on the podium again and said outloud...come on Hammy, make me proud. One lap later...HE DELIVERED. God I love that guy.

Where did he say he was going to pass Rubens for the win? all he said is he gives his all to win races for this team. he was talking about his style not just in this instance!

You're right, if you're arrogant you gotta be able to back it up. We all know Schumacher could, I reckon Hamilton can too. I didn't watch Schumacher when he first started, but for someone who was learning to push the car to the limit, he must have made his fair share of chicken ups first.

The initial reaction for young top dogs in any sport is to attribute success to themselves and failure to elements out of their control. It's part of what makes their confidence sky high.

As they get older they mature and realise that their are genuinely better than their rivals rather than just thinking it. As such they start taking the blame for their mistakes and learning from them instead.

Hamilton put his hand up after the race and said sorry, my mistake.
