No question for me: Barrichello. The Brazilian has shown over the years he has all the skills required to win at least one title. He was unfortunate enough to have to be Schumacher's team-mate. Also, his personality seems a lot more likeable than Button's.

becasue Button is British

i dont care for nationality, if i dont like someone i dont,

i think rubens is alot more likeable than button, i feel buttons got real arrogant since coming to the front, dont like arrogance

No I am saying that some Brits it seems are hard to get on with/support.

No. Nationality is not an important factor for me. It's because I think he is a punk. Well, Button has improved his act a lot lately, but too many times in the past his focus was on Formula One adequately. And, he's still a bit of a whinger.

Unfortunate to drive in Schumacher's era maybe. But with Hakkinen at McLaren at the turn of the millennium and Alonso at Renault after that, I don't see where Rubens would have been able to mount a challenge.

Yeah, it is definitely unfortunate. However, I think that Barrichello would have challenged for, and more than likely won at one stage, the championship in the place of Hakkinen or Alonso. He has been a little unlucky with being in the wrong place, but here's his chance. If he can beat Button this year, he will cement his place in Formula One for next year at least.

I grant you that if he had Hakkinen's spot in 99 he would have taken the title. I definitely put him above Coulthard and Irvine!

Button all the way. I love the way he gets so excited when he wins. He seems such a genuinely nice guy. And I remember all those painful years with Honda where he steadfastly refused to blame or bad mouth the team. It actually pees me off when people compare him to Hamilton. Don't get me wrong - I like Hamilton too - but Hamilton is all passion, belief, arrogance, petulance and brilliance - whereas Button's a grown-up. They're chalk and cheese imo.

Rubens is a great guy - and him winning would be fairytale on top of fairytale. But I don't buy all this 'poor Ruby' stuff - he chose to stay at Ferrari, and he chose to accept the second driver role. No one put a gun to his head. And after being throroughly outclassed by Button for the first 7 races of the season, it would take something special for Rubinho to win this now.

Barrichello had no choice but to go to Ferrari. It was the only place he stood a chance of getting some race wins. The only option was to drive for mugs such as Stewart and retire almost every single race.

What would you do? Stay at a team where you can win races and hope to get a shot at the title, or go back to a mid-field team and score points and maybe the odd podium for the rest of your career before fading in to the abyss without a victory to your name?

I loved that team, especially when it became Jaguar. That was the best looking F1 car I can remember. A shame it drove like a muel.

Please leave him out of this, for the love of god :P i know exactly what's going to happen otherwise...

I see what you're getting at. I reckon he has anger issues.

Webber's another guy you can put in that category.

Was there really a hope of being allowed to go for the title as Schumi's team-mate?

Both Barrichello and Coulthard made the same compromise - be number two in a team where you have to fight for scraps. It's a difficult choice to make - but a choice they both took with their eyes wide open. I'm not saying it was the wrong decision - but the fact of the matter is that Button hasn't done that - he's stuck with a mediocre team for years, which has finally come good. Who's to say that Rubinho's sob story is more deserving that Jenson's?

And I don't buy the argument that 'Jenson will have other opportunities'. This year's Brawn was a perfect storm - a total fluke that rule changes, Honda investment and an amazing car came together at the same time. There's absolutely no guarantee that Button will ever be in a championship-winning car again.
