I dont think its in my DNA not to watch...No matter how perplexed I get by the Rule changes I always get withdrawl symptoms in less than a month after the last race of the season!

What I want to know is why was this thread ever created in the first place?

Where are we? An F1 forum. Formula One is simply not a flavour of the month, like a social networking site or a cyber pet, it is a long term investment made by any serious fan.

If you are proper fan of the sport then you will always continue to stick with it. I have never once considered relinquishing my interest in Formula One.

Over my years following and watching Formula One my favoured driver has never always won, infact quite the opposite. Rule changes have come and went, but I've never lost my enthusiasm.

Formula One is more than a sport. It represents so much to so many people. Stripped down to the bone it is purely a livelihood for so many - the unsung heroes.

I never find races boring because I find a Grand Prix to be more than solely focusing on overtaking on track. There are a number of other features during the race.

Fastest laps, time gaps, strategies, track temp changes, pit and paddock shenanigans and of course the continued scandals which break throughout the sport.

If you don't find Formula One interesting because it lacks action or drama then that is your opinion. I can't understand why people believe that to be the case, but again I'm very much indoctrinated within the sport.

In my opinion Formula One is never dull be it on track or off track. Some may tire of the off-track exploits of some teams and the Governing body, but people must understand that it is a fundamental part of motor racing.

It is key to the sport, just as key as the actual cars on the circuit. Having spent many hours of my life sifting through (and hell i'll have alot of that to do in these next few months) the sport's glorious history I've never yet found an era where there has been harmony within Grand Prix racing.

Infact I quite like the odd scandal or great stand off because I think that when they end, Formula One moves on and in a way improves.

In a way they are good for the sport and its fans.
Although sometimes I feel that both fans and the media take it too far in their pursuit of information, it is good to have something to talk about - and there is always something to talk about in Formula One.

Places like this forum would not exist without these scandals, so don't be too quick to claim that F1 is too political nowadays, it always has been and always will be.

If people do not like what F1 represents, then they can easily find something else to support.

The thing I've noticed most since coming on these forums is that different people watch this sport for different reasons. If you don't passionately support a driver or team (which I assumed everyone did), and you're not into the ramblings of racing politics (which I can very much understand!!) then you probably watch to be entertained on the track by way of wheel to wheel racing and crashes.

If it's not there those fans are going to find something else to watch. It doesn't mean they don't deserve a say in how the sport works though.

Original poster, whoever it was, I think you posed a fair question.

Everyone has their own reasons for watching the sport, however I find it absurd to pose such a question to a forum where so many of its members would never let it cross their mind.

We all deserve an opinion on this board, I realise that, I gave mine and i'm happy for people to disagree with me on it.

Of course, that's what a forum's for. I think even on this forum though we have differing levels of fanaticism, some would keep watching even if they were driving milk floats and some will switch on and off as drivers, teams and rules come and go.

To be honest other sports had taken over my weekends so I never got to follow that battle properly. 97-00 were great seasons though. I stopped completely in 07 and 08 until I'd found someone new to support.
