Formula One related discussion.

No doubt many of you will have read Mosley's latest remarks, however, they merit a thread of their own and some discussion.

From autosport.com:

FIA president Max Mosley believes that the sport's governing body will have no choice but to punish McLaren further if there is any evidence of Ferrari-inspired parts on their 2008 car.

The design of McLaren's future chassis will be evaluated by the FIA later this year to ensure that it is free of any components that could have been inspired by intellectual property from Ferrari.

And although McLaren have always insisted that no Ferrari IP was even used on their 2007 car, Mosley has warned that the FIA will have no hesitation in taking action if they feel there are questionable parts.

"Everything will come out in detail and we will all be surprised," Mosley was quoted by The Daily Express as saying about the still looming legal action over the matter.

"I feel the only way to have a fair championship in 2008 would have been to exclude McLaren but that would probably have put them out of business.

"It would have been correct to throw Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton out of this year's drivers' championship but in the World Motor Sport Council, hearts ruled heads. If there was serious evidence of Ferrari's influence in any McLaren design, however, we would have to take action.

"We don't want this to drag on but I don't feel it has harmed F1. The fans and sponsors who are putting in huge sums of money want to know the sport is honest."

Mosley has also hit back at criticisms from former world champion Jackie Stewart about his handling of the affair.

"There's one particular ex-driver who because he never stops talking, never has the chance to listen — so he doesn't know what's going on," Mosley was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.

"He said the FIA's decision would not have worked in a civil court. He has no qualification to say that. Then he starts saying this is personal between me and Ron Dennis, at great length, because everything he does is at extreme length.

"It's annoying that some of the sponsors listen to him because he's won a few championships. But nobody else in Formula One does — not the teams, not the drivers. He's a figure of fun among drivers."

He added: "He goes round dressed up as a 1930s music hall man. He's a certified halfwit."

Firstly, he criticises Sir Jackie Stewart for saying, truthfully might I add, that the decision would not have stood up in a civil court. Mosley denies this as though he has has never heard of it, despite it being raised by McLaren's legal team at the hearing.

He then says, "hearts ruled heads". Now, surely that isn't particularly legal? Never mind not excluding the drivers, the decision was based on hearts, not heads.

I would also be nice for him to define what exactly are "questionable parts"? For dear sake, you could cast doubt over anything with that statement, and what if the parts were similar by coincidence?

Finally, aside from totally disrepecting somebody who has been a postive influence on the sport, one of the greats of the sport, and a man of great experience, are these kinds of statements not completely unprofessional? How can the sport be taken seriously with such corner-boy remarks?

I would suggest he knows Sir Jackie Stewart, Murray Walker, Jarno Trulli, Mark Webber, Niki Lauda et al. etc. are all right about the spy inquest, that truth is hurting, so he feels compelled to lash out.

I'll simply copy my comment from another thread to this thread:

"That really does conclusively prove that Mad Max is not in full possession of his marbles. The man is an affront to rationally functional people and the human race in general. He seems to have a particular affinity for Spanish molluscs and Italian insects generally found under rocks."

He's not a joke. He's dangerous... very dangerous creature. I bet he's being re-ellected for that position only because he has support from most influential team in FIA...

While I don't really agree with the timing of this report by Max, I certainly expected it and I'm very sure Mclaren did also. Let's face it, when you want to make an example of someone, you go all the way. If the spy issue was just left to die as it had started to, Max Mosley would have been looked on as having no spine in an issue already pushed quite hard. I don't see unprofessional comments, just ill timed comments that were surely brewing anyway.
For the life of me, I don't believe Mclaren gained any advantage this year and I don't believe next year either. That said, I am ready to eat my words on this issue because in F1, you never really know.

Jackie Stewart has won three world drivers championships, so simply can't be a halfwit. Only a halfwit could possibly say that!

And what exactly has Max Mosley achieved in his life?

With reference to the comments made by Mosely about JYS without actually naming him ISTR Moseley has made not disimilar comments in the past (2004) about Ron Dennis as "not the sharpest knife in the box".

I think we all know both Ron Dennis CBE and Sir Jackie Stewart OBE don't need to prove themselves, I mention the honours bestowed on these two gentlemen deliberately as it apears Max has a bit of chip on his shoulder regarding the british honours system, he cannot understand how two dirty fingered self-educated mechanics can be richer than he is and honoured by the country he was born in.

To understand Max's view the world one has to look into his past.
True it is not his fault his facist father was the "the most hated man in england" or that his even more right wing mother hid an autographed picture of Adolf Hitler under Max's cot as an Infant when she was arrested by Special Branch. To be fair it must have had sentimental value Max's mum and dad only had two guests at thier Berlin wedding one was Adolf Hitler the other was Joseph Goebbels.

It can be established Max was an avid supporter of his fathers post war "Union" (fascist) party until at least the age of 24 (by coincidence ?) the same age he qualified as barrister. Indeed he acted as his fathers election and was a prospective parlimentary candidate.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Quote Max's very frequently edited and re-edited Wikipedia, entry
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Mosley
"Mosley was an election agent for his father's post-war party, the Union Movement. He was for a time the party's prospective candidate for the Salford East constituency but withdrew shortly before the 1964 General Election. For a time Mosley was interested in becoming a Conservative MP but switched his allegiance to the Labour Party after meeting its then leader, John Smith, in 1994."
End quote
------------------------------------------------

Max Moseley active for his fathers party in the 1958 and 1962 election I quote a BBC report on the 1962 election
http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/date ... 776295.stm
Quote
"Police were forced to close the meeting within three minutes and made 54 arrests - including Sir Oswald's son Max."

end quote

Perhaps it is this pdf file found on the internet that tells us most about Max and his past (?) view of the world -- see section on the 1958 election at the bottom of page 12 in this PDFe http://www.historytalk.org/Tom%20Vague% ... hp%201.pdf

If true his attitudes to Lewis Hamilton can only be guessed at.

Thanks Britishtrident, I had no idea the low life scumbag was so low on the tree! Mad Max is a facist pig as well as the doolally boss of FIA. A repressed Nazi sympathiser. The son of Oswald and the Mitford tart. Well, well, that explains a lot, not only about Mad Max... it might say something about the Ferrari luminati too!

I didn't know he was the son of the Nazi fascist, oswald Mosley. Mad Max, should be removed.

I will go further and state that the witch hunt against McLaren is because there have a black man in their car. fascist Max should be removed from FIA the man is clearly sick with hate how can a openly racist like max get such a job??????

I remember Villeneuve, saying Micheal was a vile Nazi. No wonder Micheal is a friends of fascist mosley. F1 is dirty with oswald mosley heading the FIA-nazi. I going to start a campaign to get that dog removed. How can such a person be head of the fia???? Why didn't McLaren bring this up?

The dangerous, and vile Max-oswald-mosley, whore of a mother with her many nazi lovers. Mad-max mother and aunt how sick.....I wasn't wrong when I said nazi where in f1. The real reason behind the witch hunt of Ron Dennis team......

I respect Jackie Stewart, any day over that vile fascist.......the great man achievements Stewart received Sports Illustrated magazine's 1973 "Sportsman of the Year" award, the only auto racer to win the title so far, and in the same year he also won BBC Television's "Sports Personality Of The Year" award, and was named as ABC's Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year. In 1990, he was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. In 1996, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
