Of course, Ferrari could have paid Stepney directly to trap McLaren in a spy affair - woohoo, you conspiracy theorists!
Or how about MM paying Stepney in a sly vendetta move against RD?
Or how about LH's dad paying Stepney in a calculated attempt to get rid of that whining cry baby FA?

Or maybe RD's underlings (Whitmarsh, Lowe, Neale) had had it and began a mutiny?
