Quite a shocker. Blick authoritative?

Is it a tabloid, like The Sun over here or something?

Could this (if true) be a late consequence of McLaren's shenanigans such as spygate and liegate? :scratchchin:

A weak attempt to take a dig at McLaren, little doubt. Besides, your suggestion is highly questionable, as there has been some underlying tension between McLaren and Mercedes for a while now on this matter, Haug himself said in newspeak that McLaren were picked on in 2007, and the corruption of numerous other teams has been, is being and will be exposed.

No dig at all - I'm simply curious what the rationale would be for such a move. Mercedes not too long ago had to battle the board to stay in F1 and now this? Maybe during the last scandal, the board said something like: ok, we stay, but you see to it that you find another team to get associated with and even buy outright?

I agree it doesnt make sense. But how long did we have to put up with Mercedes buying out McLaren rumours. But if you were to pick a team to own McLaren would HAVE to be the one hands down. Facilities history what ever you want to bring up McLaren own Tyrrell, BAR, Honda and now Brawn on all fronts!

perhaps the price of McLaren has put them off, I am sure you could buy Brawn for a bit less

Mercedes has made no secret that it would like a German driver (maybe Nico Rosberg) at McLaren Mercedes. Rosberg is being used as a pawn by Mercedes in sponsorship talks with McLaren and Brawn. Bud you're right, it doesn't make sense but is starting to become more clear. Has anybody sent a PM to Lewis Hamilton to ask his opinion on Mercedes ending sponsorship with McLaren.
