Ok so the time has come to invest in a new motor. So I'm looking for opinions/advice on what I should get for my £3k.

So far here are some ideas.

MR2

Civic VTi

VW Corrado

BMW 325

Got plenty of other ideas but can't quite remember them all right now. All help much appreciated

it depends on what you want the car for? is it motorway, blating down back lanes, or popping around town.

The best all rounder for all 3 I would say is the Civic (I just sold my P reg one and that never let me down and I do a mix of A-B blating and Motorway cruising)

The BMW is not so much a town car, as it is a bit cumbersume for getting down narrow streets. as you know especially in some of the towns in mid/west wales. However I am sure the A40 would be good fun in it.

MR2 same as the civic really but can you live with the lack of room and only 2 seats? I have a 2 seater Caterham 7 style kit car and you would be amazed at how much junk you tend to drive around with.

out of your choices i'd get the Civic but remeber that they tend to get ragged.

What about a Focus ST170

or a Golf GT Sport (not a gti)

MR2 would be my choice but I'm biased and second choice would be a tie between the Beemer and Civic.

The Corrado is a good shout cause it's a bit different than all the usual stuff you see on the roads (ie, those other cars you posted :P ), although they are pretty old by now so it may be hard to find one in decent nick. VR6 though... Conversely that generation of BMW's are very good yet you see them everywhere!

I have owner 3 Honda's and never has a single problem with any. My last civic cost me 150 quid and apart from brakes etc the only money I had to spend out was on a back box. the car had done 200k when I sold it of which I had done 40k of that.

What about an Integra?

The Integra would be a great choice aswell imho. Back in '86 when they came to the US I drove one for the fun of it and fell in love with them. If I was to go FWD I would try to buy a Type-R. The MR2, Civic or Integra are most likely the most economical choice and have the most 'fun factor'.

Integra! I knew I'd missed a car off my list!!

Miles out of my price range though!

Well considering none of them have bodykits, don't think I'd get much of a discount.
