hey sorry is there is a similar topic, just thought it would be cool to have a place to talk about the F1 games that are out at the moment as well as the new codemasters ones coming out. personally i can't wait for f12010 the game. getting really sick of the championship edition on ps3.

here is a link to the official codemasters forum, which along with the developers of the game fans can add their opinions on what they expect from the game. well worth a read:
http://community.codemasters.com/forum/ ... php?f=1014

the wikipedia article on f1 2009 (wii and psp):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F1_2009_(video_game)

and the article on the 2010 game coming out on all the main consoles:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F1_2010_(video_game)

personally from the new game i'd like to see some realism. realistic tracks, damage, handling, and car performance as well as good online features, still it will be a good while till they come out so plenty of time to think of new things we would like to see.

I am a fan of the guys from codemasters, so I think I will enjoy the new F1 game. The Colin McRae series & Toca Race driver series would be my favourite racing games. That said Geoff Crammond's F1 games were/are the best.

i am not in anyway a fan of Codemasters games in terms of realism. I have low expectations for the new F1 game. GP4 is about the only modern F1 sim i've ever enjoyed

i haven't enjoyed grid or dirt, the handling has been far too arcadey for me. in fairness to codemasters they consider both games to be arcade racers. and have promised that the f1 game will feature both arcade and simulation physics and handling (i assume chosen by the player) i'm remaining hopeful that it will be decent.

This would be a good time to suggest the Mods merge all the Threads about the current/upcoming F1 games (The rest are here)

I looked into the current thread's regarding F1 game's and decided to not merge them pending the forum member's outlook and request. I will gladly merge them for everyone if that is what you/they want but let's atleast wait for a few more opinion's ok?

the op has stated generic f1 games which may mean that a comparison is in order, although he then heavily skews for the upcoming game.

Anyway, the last f1 game I played was the Nintendo one - loved that game. And I'm really looking forward to the new game - codemasters have said their previous games weren't meant to be simulators so the arcade stuff was deliberate - this one is.

I'm really looking forward to the game...just wish they would bring the release date forward a bit since its more or less done.

I can bring myself to wait until the 25th, but that's the limit. If it had been any later, I'd have wept.

Big fan of PC racing sims. They tide me over between seasons.

I use rFactor almost exclusively for open wheel racing.

Can't get into console sims, they just feel wrong, and the physics are always a little bit like a Road Runner cartoon.

Best sim I've ever played is the CTDP sim of the 2006 F1 season. Almost every bodywork and front and rear wing change has been modeled and done accurately from track to track, livery changes from race to race (including the Midlands/Spyker switch), accurate driver helmets, ect, ect.

Best things about rFactor is that once you've purchased the game, about 99% of the mods are free. I've got the 1979, 1988, 1991, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons all modelled, and there is good work on the 1994 season, 2009 season and 1998 season that is ongoing.
