They remain committed to McLaren and cannot understand why people would expect any different. They work closely with Ron,do not doubt his honesty and integrity and understan the politics of F1. They know the score.

Mercedes want Alonso back in their team, as soon as his contract finishes at Ferrari, and they know he will not return while moRON is there!..so if Fernando signs a 2 year deal with a 1 year option with Ferrari now, that means hes up for grabs at the end of 09 at the earliest, before Mercedes can buy him out of the 1 year option. If Fernando stays for 3 years until the end of 2010, that will be the deadline for Mercedes to be in total control with Norbert at the helm. Norbert is the only 1 who has been 100% behind Fernando this year, and i think they have already discussed the future with regards to Fernando being lead driver for Mercedes,( not McLaren, coz soon as they take over they will drop the McLaren name!)
