Kubica to lead REenault next year?
or McLaren?

McLaren? No thanks. Kubica is too bitchy.

You got that right, he is a whiny little nerdy girl. I hate him and his voice, a talented fellow no doubt but i would take Kubica instead of Nick.

The claws are out

... I support Macca

The moment Kubica reads the McLaren seat job description and sees "you will be obliged to move over for Lewis and/or in special circumstances Anthony Hamilton / Lewis' pussycat doll" he will walk out. :hehe:[/quote]

What about the Test guinea pig role? Heikki does an awesome role there ;)

From autosport.com:

Rossi was in frame for Ferrari drive

By Toby Moody and Jonathan Noble Friday, September 4th 2009, 15:44 GMT

Valentino Rossi has revealed that he did speak to Ferrari about the possibility of racing for the team at the Italian Grand Prix.

The MotoGP champion had considered a switch to F1 with Ferrari a few years ago before committing himself to motorbikes - and was once again linked with a move as the Maranello-outfit sought a replacement for Luca Badoer as stand-in for Felipe Massa.

However, Rossi said that the lack of preparation on his neck and the limited opportunity to get mileage in the car, allied to his current title battle in motorcycle racing, meant he decided to turn his back on the idea.

"We spoke with Domenicali, but we had two big problems," he said during preparations for this weekend's MotoGP race at Misano in Italy.

"The first one is the neck, because I don't know if I would be able to finish the race with my neck. Monza is not very strong for [hard on] the neck, but anyway it still needs great effort.

"And also, because we're fighting for the [MotoGP] championship, for sure the race at Monza would be a big stress and it's better to stay in MotoGP."

Rossi said that even prior to speaking to Domenicali he had already been reluctant to take on the opportunity of an F1 race because of the lacking of available testing.

"We had already decided before, that to go into a Formula 1 race without testing the car is more risky than fun," he said. "It's not possible to arrive over there and do all the work to understand the car in just three days."

Rossi was given the chance to switch to F1, he turned it down so he should stop knocking on the same doors.

Admittedly, I know very little about Rossi other than the name. Has he raced 4 wheels before? I used to race R-6's with a brief two stroke ride and went from that to cars....and I found the similarity between racing bikes and cars about the same as mowing the lawn with a push versus a riding mower. Sure, turn in, apex, trackout are nearly the same and racecraft is racecraft but controlling a car versus controlling a bike, rotation etc.....all totally different. If he could leave the top of the bike world and enter the top of the car world with very little time in between..that man is a god and I would have his name tatooed on my chest as a talisman against evil. Hell, I might even become a ....gasp....dare I say it?

Ferrari fan. :yikes:

He's raced in WRC a few times.

But WRC to F1 is almost as bad as Bikes to F1.

However when Rossi tested for Ferrari in the F2008 he set times that were to within 1.5 seconds of Kimis times

Which if you think about its pretty amazing.

is that the same test where BADoer was half a second of Kimi's time?

Yeh, but thats a Test Driver who has driven a formula 1 car before a heck of a lot in testing at least and on simulators

vs a guy who has never driven any formula 1 car before.

Its like me getting in a F1 car and doing that.

not at all, hes not scared of the speed and he can get the tires working, you'd probably not be able to in a first test

Like on Top Gear where Hammond was sent out on inters because he would never generate the heat in the slicks (of the time) then the engineer complained that it took him hal a second to go from the break to the accelerator

I think the point was that badoer also looked decent on the timings then fell apart in the race. But don't hold me to that

it was indeed mate :)

i suppose but MotoGP is 20 Sec a Lap SLOWER than Formula 1

Thats Massive.

So the speed would be a shock.

Eitherway its pretty good for him to be not so far off the pace that fast.

it is yes. but without testing he will not get quicker. I a race weekend is not really the time to work out where the hand brake is
