Being new to all this... is it common for a driver to switch teams mid-season?

It has happened before. Vettel from BMW to Toro Rosso in 2007 is one example, the last one I can remember is Jarno Trulli from Renault to Toyota in 2004.

Any opinions on this particular move? Badoer sucks that bad? Fisi is that good? I just would've guessed that he would've kept the pace going to try and keep Force India moving up.

Well, he's Italian. I think every Italian driver dreams of driving for Ferrari at Monza in front of the Tifosi. Hell, even I'd like to drive for Ferrari at Monza in front of the Tifosi!

Of course, I'd love to drive for Andrea Moda at Monza in front of the Tifosi. :hehe:

True... same here!

One of Alonso's finest drives came at Monza in 07. Actually the one the year before wasn't half bad either until the engine blew.

hmmm, Renault will be lucky to get points. I suppose bigger things rest over their head at the moment.

However will Alonso become Ferrari's new driver? Shall we find out next weekend?

Lets hope Fisi wins at Monza, that would be the greatest of Swan songs ever

:headshake: I couldn't possibly hope for a Ferrari win

Really? What about when Felipe comes back?

I dunno, the Renault could go well enough. It has decent speed in a straight line.

:scratchchin: I didn't think of that, I'll make an exception for Massa. I would like to see Fisi beat Raikkonen but I won't hold my breath.

Massa can win once in 2010 then its Mclaren 1-2's all the way.

Especily at Monza.

That is awesome!!! I wish Fisi the best because this seriously couldnt happen to a better guy. I would also like to say that I have so much respect for the way Force India handled this situation. They easily could've said no, but Vijay was generous enough to let Fisi achieve his dream.

Massive props to Force India, they're really starting to become my favorite underdog.

Personally, seeing McLaren will all but one Grands Prix in a season would frustrate me even more than appalling seasons such as 2009. Let's face it, we've been resigned to the fact that McLaren would not be winning either titles this season pretty soon after the MP4-24 first took to the track. If McLaren won everything but one race, it would eat away at us, as we would know the team came so close to reaching the holy grail of Formula One. 1988 fills me with great joy and pride, but also some annoyance.
