I didn't expect this to go ahead but if Force India have outstanding debts with Ferrari then it makes sense.

It made sense from all parties anyway, Vijay had nothing to lose. If they're on the grid next year there won't be a shortage of experienced drivers available. He now gets a look at Liuzzi too.

Ya its great news. I felt sorry for Fisi racing at force india for the last season and a half. Looks like he beat Alonso to the dream first of racing for Ferrari. :hehe:

Dont think Alonso would mind. He got the WDC first, so i'm sure its all that matters... besides, Fisi probably got the job for his proven role during Fernando's championship yrs. Like i've said, seems like Fernando arrival to Ferrari has been much better orchestrated than Kimi's. Unfortunate for Kimi, but perhaps this (the work inside + outside the car) is what makes great champions...

I doubt Fisi will beat Kimi....

Although I feel sorry for Badoer

I feel bad for him as well, though if he were honest with himself, he'd admit it was a fair decision.

Yeah. It's a shame, really, because the zero career points note on his record really is undeserved. But he just re-entered Formula One at the wrong time and now, as a result, has lost the opportunity to be Ferrari's reserve driver (although if the testing ban isn't lifted then that won't matter). Now I'm thinking that Liuzzi is going to be the only real option for Force India, although he hasn't tested for a while and I don't know whether or not he has been racing at all this year. Their other options are Piquet and Bourdais, both of whom have been racing, although Piquet is currently possibly involved in this Renault mess and Bourdais has just entered Superleague Formula. Maybe Pedro de la Rosa? He did test for the team when they started that McLaren partnership.

The way that Force India have acted is very decent and professional, and I'm glad that Fisichella has shown them the respect that they deserve in return. It's probably hard for us to fully understand what a big deal it is for an Italian to drive for Ferrari, so I'm sure there was only one outcome in Fisi's mind when he heard they wanted him. If he's planning on driving for another few years though, it seems a bit of a short term glory; he would've been leading the team at Force India, and they seem to be showing signs of improvement; at Ferrari he's going to get five races and in all probability never drive competitively for them again. But maybe he wants a blaze of glory to cap a relatively successful career.

We're also looking at quite a rare situation where there's a significant chance that both drivers who end the season driving for a team are replaced for the start of next season.

Apart from the bit where one of their guys said yeah Fisi's going to Ferrari, then the team boss said no, that's nonsense, he shouldn't have said that.

Even if he is planning to drive for a couple more years, if he performs well in comparison to Raikkonen then team bosses will raise eyebrows. His future in the sport was never exclusive to Force India - their own insecurity meant they hadn't renewed his contract for 2010.

I'm now stuck in a odd position. I really dislike Ferrari, but I like both the drivers!

hahah man, this is how we take over the world.Forcefully making you like us and before you know what hit you, your a Tifoso :hehe:

Do you guys remember Fisi once said in those Schumi dominated years that, He would pay to be given a chance to drive for Ferrari. In that light its no surprise.First Italian to drive for Ferrai since 92,i read.
An Italian driver in an Italian GP in a Italian Ferrari.
Come-on the amount of cliché comments on this point is overwhelming over here.

a) This seems unlikely in the first place, if by 'performs well' you mean beats him. I hope Fisi gives a good account of himself, but it's tough going straight into a new team. b) A driver of his age is seen as a stop-gap solution for Ferrari, no more than that; what makes you think that any other top team would see him as something more when the driver market is already extremely competitive and packed with quality all the way down the grid? c) What's the point in moving from Force India to a team like, say, Toro Rosso when he already has a relationship with his FI mechanics, and has been provided with a car that took him to second at one of the best racetracks in the world. The fact that Ferrari have signed him proves that he has already 'raised eyebrows.' By getting a few more results with one of the smallest teams on the grid, and showing even more loyalty to the team by staying, don't you think he would have raised just as many eyebrows?

He's not going to drive for a top team, he could find himself a middle of the road team like Toyota, BMW's replacements maybe, possiby back to Renault. The new rules shook the teams up this year, but you would expect the money men and the experienced to be moving right back up to the front for 2010.

There may be more risk involved, but the best results are always achieved by people that take them. F1 drivers only want to win and they'd chop limbs off for the chance. Fisi I think you've made a smart move.
