He's not even a particularly massive bloke (compared with his competitors), just a massive talent.

He's 6'5!!! :P

He's tall.

Yeh this is why he can run so fast, apparently most sprinters are short, because it helps to be short if your a sprinter?

but Bolt has found a technique to run fast as a taller person.

He's got the advantage of a long legs so with each stride he covers more ground. That's normally a disadvantage because people that tall don't usually have a fast turn over rate and they often struggle out of the blocks. Usain Bolt seems to have both of those obstacles covered.

Exactly. He manages to create power without being compact. Which is why he is so unique.

Most people are 75% water, Usain is 75% fast twitch muscle fibres. I can't see much skill in what in he does, but it sure is great to watch what a human body is capable of.

I think it is all to do with basic inbuild skill and genetic build. as I am sure that no matter how much training you do you will never be the top of your field unless you have the genetic make up to do it.

As I am sure that no matter how much we think he is bad Badoer is probably faster than 95% of the population of the world.
Just like I have the perfect genetic capability to be a couch potato. I thrive on my natural ability

Yep, I imagine he won't stay unique for much longer, i bet other countries teams are studying his techinque.

Studying his technique? Dude there is no technique! The only technique in running the 100 meter is a low drive phase, and staying relaxed while keeping proper form. Other than that its mostly up to your natural talent, and hard work.

And like welshie said, he's unique because he doesnt have a terrible drive phase like most tall sprinters have.

Still, we're talking 10% technique, 90% innate ability and committment to training.

Michael Johnson was asked a question about whether he believes we'll see a lot more tall sprinters because of Usain Bolt, he said "no". His reasoning was that tall sprinters had already tried many times before and that they're just not fast, he mentioned that it's nothing to do with training but everything to do with natural ability. Can you teach a fast turn over rate? So far no one tall ever has, Usain Bolt has always had it, he was a fast junior. Johnson could be wrong but he knows a lot more about sprinting than I do, and I dareay most, so I'll take his word for it until proven otherwise.
