There is a lot of rumours around Giancarlo Fisichella after his stunning drive in the Belgium GP this weekend. During the pressconference after the qualification "Fisico" got a question whether he would like to drive for Ferrari in the future... Giancarlo maintained that it's the dream of every Italian driver to do sometime, and after this statement many both think and actually want the veteran to have a go in the red machine in the nearest competitions.

Is Giancarlo really a potential name for Ferrari after Badoers underperformance?

Ferrari would have to watch themselves. They would not want to give the employee of another team some inside information about their team again.

Like what? "Vijay, Vijay! I found out why Ferrari are so good - it's because they're stinking rich!!"

Surely the same goes for terminating Raikkonen's contract?

We'll see; but I wouldn't be surprised as Ferrari tend to prefer external drivers instead of their own test drivers, Luca Badoer has sucked big time, get Gene in the car!

Well, LB and MG are 'internal' drivers as you put it. So...

I think the seat is his, Ferrari are not the type to go with inexperienced rookie drivers, Hulkenburg doesn't stand a chance in hell. Ferrari is very much about image, they won't embarrass themselves again with another aged test driver, and I doubt they are going to want to pick up Bordais after his performance with STR. Quite honestly, I think Fisichella stands a great chance, he obviously wants the spot and yesterday at Spa he showed that he still has what it takes to win. Oh, and lets not forget that he is Italian, with the press surrounding this affair I think that an Italian in a Ferrari at Monza would be perfect for the sport. Ferrari simply are not going to find anyone more capable than a current Formula 1 driver to take the seat, I'm telling you guys, I really think the seat is his.

No, really?!?!... now I feel like dumbass ;)

But neither driver was first choice, they drafted Michael Schumacher instead... Michael may technically be a Ferrari employee still but he wasn't on the driver roster!

fromm bbc f1:

Giancarlo Fisichella is poised to make a temporary switch to Ferrari ahead of next month's Italian Grand Prix.

Confirmation of the Force India driver's move could come on Tuesday, a source close to Ferrari told BBC Sport.

Phillips added: "Nobody's asked us yet but I think it's pretty likely that somebody will make a phone call to (Force India team boss) Vijay Mallya over the next 24 hours or so asking if we would release him to Ferrari.

"I don't think they have really got any options. Ferrari being Ferrari, it's their home race at Monza, which is a place with a cauldron-like atmosphere, particularly for the Italians - seats will be thrown on the track if Ferrari aren't doing well

errari team principal Stefano Domenicali said on Sunday: "With regard with what we are going to do for the next races we will tell you in the next three days.

"We are going to take all into consideration. It depends how the medical check-up that Felipe will do tomorrow (goes) and then we will put on the table all the different things. And then we will make a decision."

Fisichella told BBC Sport at the Belgian Grand Prix that it would be a "dream" to drive for Ferrari, but did not confirm that he had been approached.
