And what prompted this?

Maybe the locals of that Island got fed up being terrorised by gangs of 12 year olds who are seemingly untouchable by the law and moved on

The South Atlantic is so stormy that the fishermen can go about their business (crawfish tail is Tristan's main export) only between 65-70 days a year.

It was settled in 1816 by British marines sent to guard Napoleon, who was in exile on St. Helena, 1300 mi to the north. When the garrison left 16 months later, one marine chose to remain. He was joined over time by sailors from passing ships and shipwrecks - and imported women. They and their descendants made up the island's seven founding families, who have lived there ever since. As a result, most Tristanians bear one of seven surnames: Hagan, Swain, Rogers, Green, Lavarello, Repetto, and Glass. Because of intermarriage, many of them look strikingly similar ( ) - tall with pale brown skin.
