How did he abuse it he would of crashed if he didn't go off.

He had plenty of time and space to join the track again before he did, but he chose to use the full length of the run off area to his advantage

i've watched the reply a few times and it certainly looks as if he got some advantage by doing it.

If you look at the picture below, pic 3 - if he turned within the lines of the circuit he would of been 5th, behind trulli who just undertaken by Kubica.

But he goes around the outside and comes out level with kubica 5/6

a few seconds later he slots infront of Kubica.



The fact is you have to stay in the white lines, and if that was a gravel trap he wouldn't of been able to do it.

Everyone who uses the run-off area gains some kind of advantage, so surely there's never 'use' and always 'abuse'?

yup which is what i was saying, he didnt need to use the full length of the run off area to get safely back on track but did so anyway to his own advantage

hmm dunno? out of the ordinary perhaps?

Its touch & go really. The first corner is always crazy. Unless you purposely ram someone off the track anything goes typically.

If you look at the pictues,he doesn't take such a sharp corner so keeps more speed going through.

Don't get me wrong i wouldn't do him for it, but think that line maybe used by a few more drivers next time.

he could have kept on the track, hes no mug and knew he wouldnt be able to stay on the track with that much speed, its blatently obvious that he had the intention of going wide before the race started.

The pictures above just prove that its not fair. must be an extra in the ferrari international assistance package they brought, 'allowance into hidden parts of a race track'.
