Why was Raikkonen not penalized for driving off the circuit at the first bend and gaining a place.If that would have been Hamilton he would have been penalized.

I've not seen the incident since the time, but it definitely looked as though there was something worthy of investigation. Using the reasoning used against Hamilton last year, if there has been barrier or something there, Raikkonen would not have driven off the track (regardless of why he had to); he would not have gained as much momentum on the important run up to Eau Rouge; and Raikkonen did not seem to wait until the next corner before overtaking another car.

To be fair Kimi had no room left so he had to go off or crash he then rejoined the track i think it was all fair after all he did dirty his tyres and travel a greater distance going so much more on the outside.

Again, going back to the reasoning used against Hamilton, if there had been a grassy knoll or something present, Raikkonen would have had no chance but to hit the brakes. Also, I don't think that Raikkonen's tyres would have got that dirty; he was only going across tarmac.

Personally, I wouldn't like to see an investigation opened up into this, as it's far too late now and would spoil a great race, but it makes me all the more angry about what happened to Hamilton and McLaren last season.

But the rules are no longer grey. The FIA decreed after last season's Belgian Grand Prix that drivers had to give back the place(s) they gained from overtaking somebody when using run-off areas and wait one corner before attempting to re-overtake them, and this rule was made retrospective.
