Pretty bad weekend overall for McLaren Ferrari pulled out another 7 points in the constructors. McLaren had a spot on strategy HK didn't have amazing pace and made up 9 places i think. Monza will be hard again for McLaren.

Yep. 15th to 6th, a strong race. :)

My mistake everyone, I had totally forgot about the contact between Sutil and Alonso on the opening lap. Yes, that might've been a problem, I'm sure. Nevertheless, it is still frustrating to see him retire after being in contention to score some serious points here, and in Hungary.

What's the news around Badoer? And Massa's recovery for that matter? Ferrari must be telling Felipe to speed up his recovery. :D

yes, im going to eat humble pie today also and say that had it not been for the SC, Fisi probs could have kept Kimi behind him. Thinking about the live timings i was looking at during the race, he would have pulled away, especially looking at that opening lap again!
It was a very good race and has kept this season interesting and competitive.

Spa :cloud9:

Couldnt have put it better myself!

Did Heikki pit a 2nd time? I thought he needed to do a splash & dash as he did not use a mixture of the two tyre compounds?

He only pitted once. He's done a lot of long first stints on the softs this year, he's been good at keeping them in good shape on heavy fuel.

Nico did a great job with a Williams that was having to use more downforce seeing as the new low-downforce rear wing did not work, at least the team have come away with at least something when they looked like getting worse than nothing. Nakajima on the other hand looks like he's on borrowed time now, he probably knows that Hulkenberg is almost definately going to take his seat. If I was Sir Frank I would get the Hulk in the car as soon as he wraps up the GP2 title and give him some preparation time for 2010.

I felt quite happy to see Kimi win, I miss the days of when drivers used to have a certain kind of groove at particular tracks like Senna and Graham Hill used to have with Monaco, Spa pretty much belongs to Kimi.

Fisichella has to be the driver of the day for not only keeping up with Kimi but also closing on him too, only KERS and the dirty air from the DDD kept him from re-taking the lead. Force India appear to have started the car basically making it very quick on a straight and eventually given it more grip through developments.

I loved watching Trulli get stuck behind Badoer, now he probably knows how it feels for everybody else when he causes his "Trulli trains". Badoer kept setting the fastest times in Sector 1 but that won't help his cause, surely the call will now be going out to Fisi from Ferrari but he'll have a tough decision to make now the Force India has come into its own...

Talking of dominating tracks,if you look at prevous winners the best drivers tend to win there.

Schumacher 6 wins,Senna 5,Clark,Räikkönen 4,Fangio,Hill 3,Lauda,Prost,Fittapaldi,Ascari 2.That aint a bad list of drivers that has won more than once

I doubt it, being Italian the call from Ferrari and the chance to drive for them will be too strong for Fisi. Not to mention driving in front of the Tifosi at Monza. Of course that could be a double edged sword if he didnt do a good job

An excellent race, in my view. I think there was a fair bit of action on the track and some good drives. It just goes to show that traditional tracks, such as Spa, will provide infinitely better racing than this new-age garbage.

First, Force India have to be congratulated. It was a decent performance all weekend and certainly not a fluke. In fact, they had the best overall package this weekend. Although it was a good result, I actually think they will be a bit disappointed, which came across in Fisichella's remarks in the press conference. At the end of the day, they were only beaten by the KERS button on the Ferrari on the way to Eau Rouge.

I said yesterday the title battle has become a farce, and there's nothing I saw today to change that view. I mean, once again, Red Bull have an open goal to do some serious damage to Brawn, but still f*** up big time. The whole lot of them are mugs.

BMW had another decent weekend. Where has all this pace come from? Sure, there have been some updates, but both Kubica and Heidfeld have stopped feeling sorry for themselves now that they could be out their jobs next season.

Toyota will never deliver in Formula One, even if their budget was increased tenfold. Their cars look alright in qualifying trim, but are mobile chicanes in the race. Long may it continue.

I'd like to have another look at Raikkonen's first few corners. He made a great start, but was either too ambitious or forced wide going into La Source, so decided just to use the run-off area, gaining a place or two, and a nice bit of momentum in the process for the run up to Eau Rouge. And, I saw at least two other cars further down the grid attempt the same scandalous move.

A disappointing weekend for McLaren. Had Hamilton not have been punted off the track, I'm pretty sure he'd have scored some solid points. On the other hand, Kovalainen did well enough to salvage something from the weekend. The battle for third place in the constructors' title is still on.

Then how did he use both compounds? I thought James and Martin said he was on the harder from the start, and put on the same compound at his stop, so they were saying he would need another stop just to get the softer tire on. If he didn't, then shouldn't whatever the penalty is for that apply? Or was it all false?

A wildly inaccurate statement judging by the evidence of the past couple of races, but i don't really care about the team of Toyota either so won't waste energy arguing about it. :hehe:

I would have liked to see Trulli do well though, shame he got caught up in the first lap carnage. Ah well.
