I agree with alot of you here as it's like asking for their firstborn to watch a F1 race yet I guess I have been blessed with atleast three good friend's. One friend I grewup with, and this was back in '84-'85, he would let me wake him up at 4-6am with VCR inhand to watch race's but he was a F1 fan aswell. My brotha and ex-roommate Johnny Huma would actually getup to watch the race's with me and could pickout certain driver's and team's. My other longtime friend Joe has a mancave with 3 tv's so if there is a conflict between racing, football and basketball we can watch all three.

Our biggest hurdle is that those friend's are not car people.

tbh i dont blame people for not liking f1, just look at the touring car, much more entertaining for the casual fan,

i still think i would struggle to watch if my team left, i have to put a small bet on each year to spice it up, shame

valencia says it all

it is fairly boring tbh :irked:

I think half the struggle is getting your friends to watch long enough to develop a favourite driver/team, the same goes for any sport, if you don't care who wins or loses then half the appeal is gone.

I'm lucky, my best mate is an F1 nut like me, shame he's a Schumacher fanboy though. :P Perhaps even more luckily, my girlfriend watches it too most of the time!

In the dark days of when I used to go to football matches, the people who were my friends at that time despised F1 and frequently questioned why I liked it and saw it (and Williams) as some kind of "threat" to the football team I was following at the time.

I actually one time decided to skip a football match to watch qualifying and had to make up a fony excuse why I wasn't going, mind you that was when Bryan "Captain Yawn" Robson was in charge.

Luckily I have friends who aren't into it like I am but will always ask about what the race was like out of interest. But my family seems to be interested in it a lot (except mum :P ), even my Grandma watches it, I invited her over for dinner on sunday to watch the race as well because she always used to watch it with me, my dad and sister when she used to come up on sundays.

yeah i luckily have 3 friends we can talk our heads off about f1.. I always tell my uncle whats going on because i can tell him about hamilton *I am half black, so hey, hes a fan of tiger woods, hamilton is a great intro to start following f1 racing*.

My other friend loves toyota cars, so i try to get him interested in the Toyota team, but hes closed minded about f1 and open wheel racing. They usually confuse F1 with indy cars.

I tried to watch some of the IRL race this weekend, but just saw how borring it was, All the same car chassis, just wasnt appealing. What makes F1 soo appealing is its like the world series of football/soccer, everyone is a super star, and tons of glitz and glamor.

Yeah that's what I used to get, I just told them if they thought it was bad they should try watching NAStyCAR! :hehe:

Oval races in the IRL tend to be boring (bring back CART/ChampCar!), but I always tune into the Indy 500 because it's one of the biggest annual events in Motorsport. And also I tune in because of Danica Patrick... enough said. ;)

I talk to my mom about the races (across the pond).
I have a friend here who I got into F1 and she's become a fanatic RK fan. Canadian friends in town are also more into F1
