No wonder when your always taking people hostage, or blowing up hospitals.

Or vandalising paintings in the local art gallery. :hehe:

If it doesn't make your friend watch it, maybe you could ask him if he's "ever danced with the devil by the pale moonlight". :P

Convincing your friends to watch F1

Why is it soo freaking hard!?! what doesnt appeal to them? I always tell my friends "hey come watch the f1 race with me" or what not.. and most of them shrug it off like "nah im cool", yet they like cars and racing.. Maybe its an american thing

Americans want lots of cars bunched closely together driving at top speed at all times with as little deceleration as possible. If the cars slow down, Americans aren't happy. If the cars spread out on the track, Americans aren't happy. They don't really want racing so much as a cluster of cars moving around at high speed. NASCAR is what they like, and it sits at the far opposite end of the racing spectrum from Formula One. They simply can't get it, any more than a Republican could understand why his friend votes Democrat.

there is a japanese anime called Capeta about a lil boy who gets involved in carting, with a few references to F1 being the lifetime goal he dreams about..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_hGG2qwUoc thats the first season intro

2nd season intro, he makes his way to formula cars

Kinda makes me think, a F1 based animation would rock. but real life is already like a anime, you got the teams and rivals and scandals going around, would be the perfect anime plot with intense action lol.
Ill have to see if I can slip this anime to my friends, .. it might stir them to become open minded about formula cars and all the behind the scenes action that is also involved with them beside just on the track.

Not everyone here in the US likes Nascar though, its just that Nascar became the most media covered auto racing out there and got the most sponsors.. its easy to understand and not very technical to the audience. Yet our US Auto manufacturers are struggling hahah ironic huh?

They're also not too keen on right turns :P

The Spanish had a cartoon series for a while based on F1. I think there's a German one on the web too.

I always tell my friends "hey come watch the f1 race with me" or what not.. and most of them shrug it off like "nah im cool", yet they like cars and racing.. Maybe its an american thing, but man i love F1, soo much behind the pitwall stuff going on even off the track *like politics, drama etc* and then the race track action. Yet alot of guys I know will say they like closed-door racing *like gt cars etc*, like my friend saying he watched the American Le Mans race but he wont watch F1. Im thinking i bet he cant even name a driver in that series.

I grew up in the 90s watching Indy racing, then became a teen and no time to watch it, but just hte past few years i started following and falling in love with F1.. its the only racing series i watch, so the transition to accepting open wheel racers is easy. And besides, F1 is like the top of the line racing, nothing better. The drivers become world-known celebrities.

And its not hard to follow F1, I mean to start out, just catch a race, and try to pick a favorite driver to root and cheer on, then from there you get pulled in.

None of my friends will watch it either, and what is really amazing to me is that a bunch of them are just graduating college as engineers in various fields, don't they find the technology interesting? I think the thing that drew me in the most was the first onboard footage I saw, the speed and insanity of the drivers, going to keep trying to show them clips here and there, but sadly I feel that F1 in the US is a lost cause. I am really hoping USF1 and YouTube can bring some of my nerdy friends in, if it all works out that is...

There was also an F1 anime intro in 2007 for FujiTV

Maybe a predecessor of the Spanish intro this year...
