I was reading an article on Autosport today about what Simon Long had to say about F1 drivers joining WRC and i was stunned about what i read

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/77557

"To have Sebastien [Loeb] testing his metal against the best in [Formula 1] in Abu Dhabi later this year and vice-versa in Finland [with Raikkonen] is a really good example of the box office draw of the two championships - and this battle for supremacy in terms of who is the world's greatest driver and what is the world's greatest test of man and machine."

Not news to me, this is old old news.

Rumours surfaced around the time that Bourdais got the push that Loeb was thinking of coming to F1. He was going to take the seat over full time, but Citroen said he needed to concentrate more on the rally, seeing that Hirvonen has started beating him. He did want to get into the car for Abu Dhabi, BUT I think he wouldn't have been allowed to test so that put him off.

In his red bull test a wee while ago, he set some reasonable times.

Loeb is, in his own admission, getting a bit too old to seriously consider a career in F1.

Also I find it funny that the article refers to WRC as though it is currently a Box-Office success. Rubbish, the WRC is ailing due to its shoddy rules, lack of real manufacturers, and the crappy organisation of rallies.

It is being bent over a table and ... you know... by the IRC.

Only Citroen and Ford... and this is the biggest joke. The FIA have tried to change the rules in terms of car specification for the last few years now, to allow more manufacturers in. (S2000 rules etc)

However the two remaining manufacturers keep making them delay it, saying they'll quit if not given "adequate time" - What ? :P

lol, The WRC "the pinnacle of rallying" has two manufacturers involved, Just shows how it`s not only F1 but other forms of motorsport being tortured by the muppets who make the rules :(

Yes, he can go, but he's not on the Seb's level, let's say, yet. Maybe, he will be some day (last weekend rally in Finland showed that he can be bloody fast and relentless in beating his rivals). And, despite his 3 points lead in the championship it's going to be tough challenge for Mikko to steal the crown from Loeb.

We have to see, the WRC is a funny game. Although Loeb is an all time great, he is similar to Schumacher in the sense that for a large part of his career he hasn't competed against someone of the same level as him.

I know many people have heard of this before but a couple of months ago i had read an article on autosport where he denied having anything to do with F1 so when i read THIS article i was completely scandalized :yikes:
