I'd like to see Sauber or Prodrive buy BMW out, but Prodrive most likely can't afford it, so I'd rather see Sauber get it or the space just empty.

:wavey: Your display picture, I like.

Anyways, with Kubica as a free agent, anyone thinks Renault might use Grojean as a temp until 2010 where Kubica will be in the Renault team? If Nando goes to Ferrari, then Kubica might pair up with Grojean. But if Nano stays, then Kubica and Nano might be pretty fun! I heard they are good friends and they were pretty playful at the Shanghai Go-kart track. :)

My thoughts exactly. Kubica and Alonso are friends. Even so, Renault appear to be hot on Kubica's heels from what I gather.

:/ Never thought Renault were interested in Kubica, although I can't really see anywhere he could go. Anyone think Buemi will go to Williams if when STR gets sold they don't want him and Rosberg does move (to McLaren please). I think him and Nakajima would make a decent team, I mean the car (this season) has been steady, not fast but I can't remember the last time I saw a Williams retirement, apart from driver error caused ones.

Thanks, I do to :)

Is it you?

It's his mother  No I'm very sorry, just couldn't help that it was right there waiting to be said.

No problems with piquet buying a team, just don't put your son in it - kinda ruins the whole thing.

Why else would he buy Sauber if not for his son?

Piquet's gob was more effective than his martial arts skill, Kubica could just annoy Piquet by whinging at him.

If Piquet senior made a comeback Hamilton could just push him off for "calling his hero a homosexual". :hehe:

From autosport.com:

Sauber: BMW demands were too high

By Edd Straw Thursday, August 6th 2009, 10:15 GMT

Peter Sauber has blamed BMW's demands for the failure of his negotiations to complete a takeover of the team.

AUTOSPORT understands BMW was asking for much more money for the purchase of its Hinwil base - from which all the team's activities except powertrain development are run - than Sauber was willing to pay.

Sauber, who brought the team into Formula 1 in 1993 and retained a 20 percent stake after it was bought by BMW in 2005, said that had a deal been completed, he would have been able to sign the Concorde Agreement.

This would have guaranteed the team a share of the sport's sport revenue for the next three years and helped ensure its long-term future.

"Following the announcement by BMW that it will be pulling out of Formula 1 at the end of the 2009 season, I tried to launch a takeover and rescue of the team," Sauber told AUTOSPORT.

"However, the negotiations with BMW have failed because the demands were simply far too high for me. Consequently, I have been unable to sign the Concorde Agreement, which guarantees payments worth millions and would have secured the future of the team."

Sauber is still determined to do everything he can to ensure that the Hinwil-based team continues in Formula 1, but described the collapse of the deal as the "bitterest" in his motorsport career.

"I am incredibly disappointed and disconsolate," said Sauber. "For me this is the bitterest day in my 40-year career in motor sport. It is also a devastating setback for the team.

"Other solutions must now be sought. The responsibility for that lies in the hands of BMW. Needless to say, I am willing to help, as before."

Terrible news, but there is still a chance something might happen. Hypothetically speaking, if BMW were to find a buyer, would the team be entitled to sign the Concorde Agreement, even though it's been negotiated and signed by all of the other parties?

I wouldn't say they were entitled, but FOTA, FIA and Bernie could allow them to. I'd certainly hope they did.
