well its probably THE oldest rivalry in Cricket so its a pretty historic match up, and a big deal in the world of Cricket i mean its not like Australia vs Bangladesh now that is awesome....

I think the major problem is that we don't get a chance to play England as much now at anything... :hehe:

I dunno why you guys dont do an annual or biannual event in Soccer or Rugby Union like they do here with the Rugby League. Every year they have the state of origin 3 game test between New South Wales and Queensland.

Well we do for Rugby Union, the sixnations features all of the home nations plus Italy and France.

As for Soccer, Scotland, Wales, Rep Ireland and Northern Ireland have set up the "Celtic cup". They tried to get the old "Home Nations" reinstated, but England said no.

We're a bunch of pansies, you see. Sure, we could quite possibly beat them at the sport, but they're all bigger than us.

What? You'll have won the Ashes? So what: the Aussies would still be dominant in the series and hold all of the records, and 2009 is the first year since 1989 England have looked like beating England fair and square. You English just don't get it.

The English record from 1989 onwards is shameful, I can't deny that.

I just find it quite entertaining that so many nations feel the need to be better than us when, for the most part, England couldn't give two stuffs about anyone else (with the exception of Germany in the footie and the Aussies in the Cricket).

its always nice to beat the Ozzy's or the South Africans in the Rugby too.

See on paper England should beat all of her fellow British Isles competitors. However there is just something about it, you can never be entirely sure. Such is the huge national drive that the other countries have.

I was taking the piss. We couldn't be certain about beating an under-tens football team with half of their players off the pitch. :hehe:

With Rugby, Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland all seem to go up an down quite dramatically. One year in the Six Nations we're unstoppable the next it's almost a white wash (thank God there's always Italy to prevent that).

Especially given that hardly any of our best players care about playing for the national team, seeing as they don't get paid extra for it. :banghead:

That is another point. I mean take the last Scottish Football qualifying campaign. The players rejected the offer to be paid extra for playing for their country. They agreed to only get paid if we made the finals. Sadly we didn't but you can see the different approaches.
