should ron dennis step down after this final ruling over the spygate, has he pushed the boundries too much, will other people take mclaren seriously in the future? hamilton or alonso will win the world drivers championship but is it valid or tarnished? ron dennis has been in f1 for over 30 years is it time to go before it gets worse? ferrari will never live down the infamous 1-2 they had in austria and its been 5 years, i think every time mclaren wins future races it will be questioned not only by ferrari but all f1 teams and i think that this wont go away for many years to come. as a formula one supporter over the last 23 years ive seen alot of questionable things in f1 from all f1 teams (not just ferrari and mclaren) but what has conspired here is unforgivable and unethical. formula 1 is in trouble at the moment with its new engine, tyre, ecu rules coming out every week and this spygate saga has made things much much worse, its time for these team bosses to give a new generation a go and start from a clean slate or f1 as we know it will die. who will beleive what ron dennis says in the future his lies has just lost respect not only from hard core mclaren fans but millions of people in the world, no one will take him seriously now

Why should Ron Dennis step down? What could he have done to stop the scandal? How was he to know once it was under way? Had he any reason to suspect that several people in his team, working on their own, were trying to cheat and, if so, would they admit it to him?

Ron Dennis is one of the great men of Formula One and has done wonders for McLaren. He has seen the team through the highs and the lows and will do so again.

Incompetence to lead a team and create an atmosphere of trust and collaboration that fosters ethical behavior - good enough reasons for RD to step down.

Why should he step down? From what i could read into the situation, Alonso tried to intimidate ron by threats to "tell". Hes the one who should step down. I hope hes kicked out of Maclarin.Guess who would take him? Ferrari, and good ridance. He is just a baby who threw his dummy out the pram.

Utter BS - Ferrari don't want him.
RD should step down for his inability to run his joint appropriately. Every CEO would be fired on the spot after getting a fine of this magnitude.

I have to agree with this statement.

pit-babe: open your eyes. It's where the buck stops and it's RD's ultimate responsibility what's going on in his joint. If he fails to lead his team in an appropriate manner and gets a huge fine (plus exclusion) for unethical and unsporting behavior, any other CEO would be gone by Monday.

Mercedes Benz should step in here and insist that this behavior is something their brand does not want to be associated with. This is openly cheating to win. If that's the way you win it's no longer a sport. Everyone on this team associated with the cheating or that knew about the cheating should be fired. Anything less shows there is ZERO integrity within the team and Mercedes should withdraw their sponsorship.

Not so. Not a Ferrari fan, closest to supporting a team would be BMW-Sauber, but I don't do teams, only individual drivers :P

Yeah, I was thinking about them too. Daimler Benz is usually very 'Korrekt', so it's astounding how they put up with all this cheating w/o heads rolling - but this might well still come to pass down the road.

Perhaps Mercedes stance simply indicates that they understand the truth of the situation, unlike people like you Dali, who run around screaming the sky is falling at the drop of a hat and who, seemingly have a disposition inclined towards Obsessive Compulsive Disorder once they have managed to mount a hobby-horse.
