Kimi looked pretty fired up in the last race to me. I'm a bit annoyed that Schumacher has decided to race, I mean what does he have to gain from it? He won't be on the pace, half a second off the front I reckon and it'll just look stupid to have him trounced by lesser drivers who have had more preparation and practice. It's just going to be gutting to watch the greatest of all time flounder :(

People will be aware of the circumstamces. I have more respect for him doing this than when he won his hollow victories.

It should've gone to Badoer imo. But thats just me wanting him to get that ride so that he could finally score points...

I feel really sorry for Badoer. What's worse than having your dream crushed once? Having it crushed twice, which is exactly what Ferrari have done to the poor guy. :(

I feel bad for him too. But hopefully he keeps at it, you dont get anywhere by feeling sorry for yourself.

From F1 Live:

The German motorsport federation Deutscher Motor Sport Bund has already sent off the application paperwork for Michael Schumacher's new Formula One superlicence.

The FIA confirmed that even though the 40-year-old German is a seven time world champion, his mandatory superlicence expired at the end of 2006. However, it is believed receiving a new one is a mere formality.

"Under normal circumstances Michael Schumacher should get a superlicence," a FIA spokeswoman told the German news agency SID.

Meanwhile, Schumacher's F1 return is generating plenty of interest.

"So excited to see Michael Schumacher race again," cycling legend Lance Armstrong, who recently pulled off his own sporting comeback, said on his Twitter page. "The greatest of all time!" the American added.

Felipe Massa's father also welcomed the news. "I am sure Felipe will be happy," Luiz Antonio said.

Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport said Schumacher will prepare for Valencia in the Fiat driver simulator in Turin. “The whole of Formula One celebrates," the newspaper said.

Not only must he await his superlicence but Michael Schumacher must get the green-light of a doctor before shifting his planned Valencia comeback into high gear courtesy of his motorbike shunt earlier in the year.

The 40-year-old German, who retired from F1 in 2006 but has agreed to return to replace Felipe Massa, is to undergo medical tests at the Bad-Nauheim sportklinic in Germany.

"It's only because Michael has worked so hard in recent months that all of this is possible," a confident Dr Johannes Peil, who treated the champion following his fall, told Bild newspaper.

It is also rumoured that Schumacher may attempt some testing miles prior to Valencia, despite the official ban on in-season circuit testing.

The Tagesspiegel newspaper reports that while Ferrari is not allowed to run the F60 except in a straight-line, Schumacher may instead turn to the Italian team's 'F1 Clienti' department, which operates former grand prix cars for wealthy enthusiasts.

Possible venues for Schumacher's test were named as Imola or Mugello.

Michael Schumacher on Wednesday announced he is looking forward to the challenge of replacing his injured former Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa at forthcoming Grand Prix.

"I met this afternoon with Stefano Domenicali and Luca di Montezemolo and together we decided that I will prepare myself to take the place of Felipe," the 40-year-old German said.

Schumacher hung up his helmet as a record-holding seven time world champion and winner of 91 Grand Prix and insists he has never regretted his decision.

"Though it is true that the Formula One chapter was completely closed for me a long time ago, it is also true that for loyalty reasons to the team I cannot ignore (this) unfortunate situation. But as the competitor I am I also very much look forward to facing this challenge.”

The Italian team said it will enter Schumacher as Massa’s replacement following a training programme for the German, who earlier this year hurt his neck in a motorcycle testing crash.

"I really can't tell you if his neck would be fine to drive an F1 race - and remember he is a 40-year-old man, too," Schumacher's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm warned.

If Massa is healing at this rate, does anyone think he might be racing in Valencia? Which means MS's return might be short-lived?

I think it is possible, but I dont know if there are any possibilities if Massa will be back before Valencia GP

Possible, but after all the Schumi talk he's gotta do at least one race.
Bernie may convince Massa he isn't fit enought to be back

I was wondering about that too, Massa already has his eyes on Valencia.

Reacting to the news that seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher would take his seat in the Ferrari while he was not able to drive again, Massa reportedly joked: "We have to see if I will let him drive!"

"He was joking with his friends and his brother," Altman revealed. "He was telling us that he heard about the Schumacher news, and he told us: 'Let's see if I let him drive the car, because I won't give up.'"

Something tells me the doctors will kibosh Massa's plans to drive soon.

Cheers

All i can say is: its cool that schuey is racing again. I dont think he will beat Kimi... but it doesnt matter because Shuey's career is already made.

I rekn if Massa is healing and fit and able as reports are suggesting, then Schuey might only race in Valencia and the following week in Spa.

Petr Cech took months to recover from his skull fracture. I'd rather Massa wait, and come back for his home Grand Prix, which would make a memorable moment and top off a fan-bloody-tastic season. :)

As it happens, Spa would be Schumacher's 250th start...

All internal Ferrari politics aside, I really urge Felipe to look at the big picture and take at least a month or two months off for full healing...
as the problems related to head injuries sometimes manage to hide itself until some time later....
i want to see Felipe back, for sure ! But i think we have to make sure he is 1000000% recovered first

Forza Felipe!!
