Romain Grosjean appears to have moved another step closer to securing his Grand Prix debut.

Amid reports of a terminal falling-out between Flavio Briatore and Nelson Piquet, the French-Swiss reserve driver Grosjean was this week asked by Renault to conduct driving duties at a straight-line test.

The session took place on the runaway of the Duxford Imperial War Museum in Cambridgeshire.

Grosjean is second in the GP2 championship behind Williams F1 reserve Nico Hulkenberg

Bye bye Piquet. :woohoo:

Yup, im not holding my breath. With Kubica on the market now Grosjean will have to show some speed quickly but I have a feeling he will.

Agreed, as pointed out in the articles Kubica is a free agent. Where could he go?

If Rosberg left Williams i wouldn't mind him as a replacement. I think it'd be there or Renault, i can't see him going to a new team or McLaren, and Brawn/Toyota/Ferrari/Red Bull are locked out, seemingly anyway...

Edit:

My god what a strong driver line up that would be for Renault. I wonder as close friends Alonso and Kubica would get on. Personally, at one stage, I tipped them as Ferrari teammates for the future.

Alonso and Kubica vamos!

Nelson Jr, you tried hard to emulate your father's record, however it just wasn't to be. You had your chance to show your skill as a driver this season. Instead you only showed us your skill at crashing, spinning and being eliminated from qualifying.

Goodbye

And if he didn't quite get that:

Júnior de Nelson, você experimentado duramente para emular seu father' registro de s, de qualquer modo ele apenas wasn' t a ser. Você teve sua possibilidade mostrar a sua habilidade como um excitador esta estação. Em lugar de você mostrou-nos somente sua habilidade em deixar de funcionar, no girar e na ser eliminada da qualificação. Adeus

Ok i'll stop it now... :hehe:

What are Kovalainen's chances of going back to Renault for 2010?

I suppose that is a possibility, but if you look at the drivers now available on the market, he has to be quite low down on anyone's list.

And if Alonso is staying for 2010, I doubt Grosjean will be ousted (unless unbelievably s***)

Edit: I was looking for your signature "pondering" smiley, Scotty. Couldn't find it in time though :(:hehe:

They would be pretty good... until Flavio hears about it.

Kovalainen is like Piquet, a little, and after this season they have gone down in the rankings of what teams want, so new team for them both next year?
