The NY Times reports:

The federation, known as FIA, said it had stripped McLaren of all its constructor’s points in the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship, and the team can score no points for the remainder of the season.

The federation added that the team would not share in the sport’s revenue this season, either.

This is the first time that the leading team in the championship had been excluded. Should another team fail by the end of the season to score more points than McLaren currently has, then there will be no constructor’s title winner in 2007.

As the teams gathered here for the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend, McLaren led the series, and Ferrari, by 23 points. A team may accumulate a maximum of 18 points for finishing both first and second place in a race. With four races left — including this weekend’s in Belgium — Ferrari is almost certain to earn enough points for the title.

Don't worry your pretty little head DD, Ferrari will have enough points to count themselves victorious anyway.

number one slot has Ferrari in the constructors table!

and if this were the case then im sure McLarens appeal over the hungary case would still go ahead as another 14 points ontop of the 23 now would make it that much more difficult for Ferrari to catch!

Well, we'll see. Did you hear that the Hungary case is dropped for good?

well considering the outcome of the spy case has mclaren disqualified of all points from previous races this year and all races left would make an appeal for 14 points kinda useless id say. but it may still go ahead in the case mclaren can appeal this world council decision! which they rightly should be given the oppertunity to appeal the same way ferrari were able to appeal the first hearing!

Should they look in to all the other teams to check what information has been used from another team? That would be pretty much all of the top 10 out, then.

I expect the FIA believe by fining McLaren they have sent a message to all the other teams not to copy designs or grab confidential information any longer, plus it would take longer than the last set of races to look through records of every team, unless another whistleblower fancies doing some homework on Ferrari, Renault, BMW etc...
