Bernie was right when he said that Button would win the championship under the winner takes all system, but I fear he will lose it on the points system. B ut that's the way things should be. What an embarrassing position the winner takes all approach could have given this year, if Button continued to struggle to score a few points but was world champion.

If Button can't do it, let's hope that Hungary gave Webber the advantage over Vettel.

Red Bull are the strong favourites for the constructors' title, but the winner of the drivers' title is much less certain. Button will be helped by Vettel and Webber, but teams such as McLaren taking points of Red Bull will work both ways, as they'll probably take points from Brawn, too. Barrichello isn't really getting the job done either, so it's not as though Button has a rear gunner as well. As somebody has already said, I think the eventual winner will have a relatively low final tally of points and will squeak his way to the title.

What a crazy last three races.

After Turkey I'll be honest. I had written off any chance of a title fight. But now, it's going to be close as hell.

Points scored over the last 3 races
Button - 9
Webber - 24
Vettel - 18

Webber has clawed 15 points out of buttons lead over the last 3 races. At that rate, his lead will be gone with one race to go. Whilst Vettel is still part of the equation.

Vettel is clearly the faster driver at Red Bull. Twice now, he's out-qualified Webber whilst carrying more fuel onboard. But Vettel has had 4 retirements now. Webber is more mature and consistent. Red Bull can't afford to back either driver.

I think the deciding factor of this world chapionship, is how many points can drivers like Hamilton, Rosberg and Raikkonen take away from the Red Bulls. But I think the Red Bull is still the fastest car out there. Webber set the fastest lap today by around half a second. That, at a track were Red Bull weren't expected to do well.

I think Red Bull need to throw their weight behind Webber. He's really the only one who has a chance to beat Button. I think Vettel's 4 DNF's this year proves that he is way to inconsistent to challenge for the title.

Vettel might have 4 DNFs but they're not all his fault - maybe some of Webber's bad luck has rubbed off on him :yikes: And - he might have 4 DNFs but he's still right with Webber in the points.
I think Red Bull should just wait and see what happens. If they choose a driver now, it might be the wrong one, and then where would they be? I think it's good that they're still giving both drivers an equal chance - that's how it should be. I assume that as soon as one driver pulls ahead substantially in the points, then they'll back him, whoever it may be.

I think Vettel is the better driver of the two but Mark is having a better season and he would thrive i think with a bit of pressure taken off so I reckon Red Bull should back Webber as soon as. Vettel will get his chance, he is so young after all and Webber is better placed at the moment

Vettel might have better single-lap pace, but I'm not convinced by his race pace. Several times he's failed to make strategies work for him allowing Webber to jump him throughout the course of the race. Additionally, only one of the times that Vettel has out-qualified Webber on more fuel is legitimate. At Silverstone, the reason Webber wasn't on pole was because he was impeded by Kimi. :)
