BBC sport now saying something similar to what James Allen said, particularly about AP blowing it out of proportion.

Hopefully the doctors could awaken Massa in time to tune into the race and watch it. :)

Now that it appears Massa is going to be out for a good while, who will step into the breach? Gene? Badoer? Or will Schumi make a one-off return and show us what he can still do? He won't be under any pressure either!

I wasn't Schumi's biggest fan, but I wouldn't mind seeing him return, to go up against Hamilton, Vettel and co. :)

That would be interesting, however I feel that it would be Badoer. Or, Ferrari might alternate between Badoer and Gene - they would have nothing to lose and it would mean that both test drivers would get some experience driving the new regulation cars in race conditions, which could be vital for their short winter testing programme.

Man 7up are you spying on me? My friend and I have just discussed this. We think Schumacher coming back would be amazing, but that they should give the seat to Gene (he is the only driver racing this season).

Gene should be given it.

And particularly as Gene was recently at Le Mans and you were the only one to notice him at the Silverstone paddock. Plus he did a good job covering for Ralf when he was injured in 2004.

What are you talking about...

People are actually talking about a reserve driver here. Thats ridiculous. People were complaining about Algusuari having little experience. Sending someone into race conditions, having not even driven the car before is suicide.

Massa won't be there tommorrow, but Valencia is another 4 weeks away. Massa will be fine by then, and there won't be a replacement driver.

There are differences between Gene/Badoer and Algy, the first and foremost being that Gene and Badoer have clocked up lots of miles in Ferrari F1 cars previously.

Maybe he will be, maybe he won't. They haven't assessed the damage completely yet, they're still waiting for tomorrow when they wake him from the induced coma. He could be out of action for more than four weeks if it's something serious.

Additionally, Alguersuari has done a fine job this weekend having never driven a Formula One car in anything other than a straight line. Badoer and Gené have driven Formula One cars for years, and have even drive this year's F60, so they are better prepared for the job than Alguersuari was.

I'm not sure about fate but motorsport has an awful habit of giving us eery coincidences. Maybe I just read too much into things.

nah i was thinking the same thing, its very eery considering how close it Surtees death.

I've just thought, it's also very eery that both incidents happened in the race after the one in which each driver scored their first podium of the season. o.o

I'd be surprised if FM comes back before the season ends after having suffered from brain injury. Moreover, I wouldn't be surprised if he called it quits - he's becoming a dad soon and his family might have second thoughts about his continued involvement with F1.
I'll be missing his sweet little bum (fortunately that wasn't impacted on at all! :P ) :cloud9:

For the second time in a week, shades of 1st May, 1994. Thankfully, although badly injured, Massa will probably make a full recovery. Get well soon.

Especially because he also "didnt move" while waiting for the paramedics.
The crash also seemed "light", until i saw that straight skidmark, the chopper and the rushing ambulances. He's also about to be a pappa. Thats when i got teary eyed. I hope he gets well soon... Terrible situation.

Its still such a shock, and it will I'm sure be playing on the minds of some of the drivers. He's such a nice kid, I remember recently his post race 'chat' with DC and Eddie, he has such a funny rapport with DC it was lovely to see them teasing each other. Here's fingers crossed, its not as serious as some reports and he's back before the end of the season.
