Into my second full season of F1 now and enjoying it very much.

Just one thing I can not work out or understand.

The relevence of the coloured block on the very top of the cars, some cars have red whilst other have an illuminous yellow colour. Please see pic for example (1st pic I found)

As you can see on this pic Lewis' car has a red colour at the top where as Hekki's car has a yellow block. You can see various other cars supporting the red's and the yellow's. I watch every race trying to work out if the change colour, what they do, are they even relevant, trawled the web plenty of times with no clues.

Can anyone tell me what they do or dont do? So I dont have to watch ever race wondering please?

Dont know if im disappointed or pleased now, thought it might be something a bit more interesting, at least i wont be wondering no more, thanks a lot.

LOL it's no problem. Sadly many things in life are never quite what they seem.
Glad to have cleared that up for you though.

i normally just look at the colour of the helmets to see who`s who in a team :D

Guys, he asked what they are. They're cameras. You all told him what the colour does but why have none of you told him this?

I find it easier to remember who is the first and second driver rather that trying to remember wat evry drivers helmet looks like. Also, what do you do if can't see the driver?

Yep, its the T-Cam that supplies us viewers with the on-board shots.

The problem with your method is that the 1st and 2nd driver are not always in that order, and helmets can be seen easily from all sides with the exception of a shot where the camera is directly behind the car, which I don't recall ever seeing. Most teams have a driver with a helmet that is easily distinguishable from their team mates helmet. An example: Felipe Massa, he wears bright green helmet so you know if its a Ferrari and the helmet ain't green, its Kimi... same with McLaren, Hamilton's helmet is bright yellow.

With all the advertisements on helmets these days it has gotten a bit harder, I wish they would let the drivers do whatever they wanted with their helmets, I think it would be nice if they had creative control to show a bit of themselves on their helmets.

I am thrilled to have been a part of this, I would like to thank my keyboard and monitor, without them, none of this would have been possible!

I'll be signing autographs and giving out free lifestyle advice down in the "Mother trucker!" thread for anyone interested.

They have special weapons to deploy, if anyone runs on the track like Silverstone '03 again.
