I remember reading the interview he gave on the Official Formula One website in which he said he didnt feel quite comfortable and that he is too old to be able to make the switch and that if he was younger he would have.

wtf? Couldnt have Toro Rosso at least let Bourdais race with those updates?? Those updates are probably going to make this noob look better than he actually is! I seriously lost all of the respect I had for Toro Rosso.

I kinda lost alot of respect for STR for dismissing SeaBass mid-season regardless of his result's. There was a complete loss off decorum on STR's part imho.

I don't like the situation either. It's just stupid to fire such an experienced driver in the middle of the season, that won't help the team, that's for sure.

And, as far as the new guy, Alguersari, is concerned, nothing can make him look better, neither can those updates. He'll be last in every single race to the end of the season. I can't see him been enough quick to compete with other guys.

Jaime Alguersuari's Formula One debut is being powered by sponsorship from two major Spanish companies.

It is expected that Toro Rosso will announce next Monday that the 19-year-old Spaniard is to be Sebastien Bourdais' replacement for the Hungarian Grand Prix and beyond.

Spanish media claim he is backed by the oil company Repsol as well as La Caixa, Spain's leading savings bank.

Press sources claim the companies are advancing Two million Euros to the Faenza-based team, guaranteeing Alguersuari the race seat for the forthcoming Hungarian and European Grand Prix.

Even if Toro Rosso decides to oust the rookie after Valencia, the team is able to keep the Spanish sponsorship funds, the newspaper Diario AS reported.

Former Spanish F1 racer and Ferrari test driver Marc Gene is reportedly a close friend of Alguersuari, but he believes the youngster is facing ‘the most difficult debut in the history’ of the sport.

"Jaime is ready, but there are lot of factors playing against him," the 2009 Le Mans winner told Diario Sport.

He said the testing ban means Alguersuari has not done any proper circuit testing at all in F1 machinery, while Hungary is one of the ‘most difficult’ circuits on the calendar.

A lot of people are saying Sebastian has been unfairlyu treated, and to a degree i agree.

However he has been there 2 years now and been outperformed by teammates. The car is obviously not too great just now, but Torro Rosse has precedence for punting drivers that don't perform, or in this case, new talent appears with pennies.

Spain is now crazy for F1 following Alonso's wins, and this new boy comes with Repsol sponsorship, that will fill the coffers nicely as they have sponsored Moto GP for many years and like to see a spaniard as part of their sponsorship, so i feel that yes the seat has been bought, but it might give bus a new classic livery coloured car and some fresh talent.

You never know, he may be good! lol

Nah, even at the start of the season when they had the same equipment at the main team, they were still only able to grab the odd point. Maybe if Vettel was still with them!

I'm guessing he will be fighting with Fisichella. Maybe not even him. I think P20. Nothing special, nothing. Just another 'Kid' trying to prove himself but will come up so short.

I just doubt he will do anything, Plus we have one of the best F1 drivers in the world. He's Spannish? He has no chance of even filling a quater of his shoes.

I'm not sure why people keep saying this when there wasn't that much disparity. Obviously Vettel has shown he's a supreme talent probably one of the top 5 in F1 right now, yet Bourdais out-qualified Vettel 7 or 8 times last year and when Vettel had the pole in Italy Bourdais was 4th only 1 tenth back. This year Buemis and Bourdais numbers are nearly identical. Buemi's avg. quali position is 16th Boudais is 17th while Buemis avg finish position is 15th while Bourdais is 14th. That's as near to parity as you can get! This is not a man who was soundly beaten by a teammates such a Piquet is by Alonso.

I do say though that you raise a very good point. Bringing is sponsorship for back of the grid teams is a very important thing so if you say Bourdais was dropped because this new guy came with a cart-full of cash then Ok but not because Bourdais was underperforming in comparison.
