Sometimes I begin to think that F1 drivers are all vacuum formed in a secret underground bunker.

They all say at the drop of a hat, 'for sure', over and over and over again.

Where does this come from and are there other examples of F1 driver speak?

Lol - and it's not just the drivers who say 'for sure'. Other members of the teams and even Bernie have been guilty to saying it, too

I'm glad someone else has noticed too. I also noticed that Vettel likes to say 'fantastic' an awful lot, watch the British GP post-race press conference for proof.

"For sure" is very common, it's been around the F1 paddock a lot longer than you'd think. Senna used to say it a lot too.

I laugh everytime I hear FM speak and count the 'for sure's'. Do ya think his pregnant wife will tell him NO FOR SURES in the delivery room??

Well i dont think some drivers have a large enough vocab. And some dont speak english very well. Have you ever heard Buemi speak? he puts u to sleep.

Forsure it's just a language and pronunciation barrier. I get a laugh out of it but do not fault them for it, heck it took me three week's to comfortably say 'thank you' in Russian. Me asking two barmaid's for a particular dinner plate would have made a great YouTube video forsure!

You got the point. They've taken short courses and you can't expect them to speak as fluently as native speakers or somebody who's been speaking English for years (or decades). I've been learning English over past 10 years and it's nowhere near perfect or at least good enough.

It's easier to say it in Croatian.

Yeah, i noticed Martin Brundle using it in his early commentary races for one, and a few other drivers in the 90's. It's just that now everyone seems to use it, from the British drivers to Bernie to the usual suspects!

You can stretch it back even further. I blame Niki Lauda for today's modern F1 speak. That rats-cle.
