its all relative firstly a fit person would need to know how to drive to keep heat into the tyres just to keep the car on the track.
A fit person that can drive fast enough therefore can class themselves as a racecar driver but then will they be able to withstand 60+ laps? if they can then they can class themselves as an F1 driver!

They'll probably be sore, but I'm pretty sure they wont "blackout or snap their neck."

na throw them in an F-14 then theyll blackout :hehe:

F1 drivers are more fit.
(Regardless of ability) a F1 driver could easily play a full football match. Whilst a footballer could not go a race distance without blacking out or his neck snapping. In fact, not even a driver from another category could go a race distance without proper F1 fitness training.

:bs:

I bet anybody with excellent fitness would be fine in an F1 race.

No
They would have to have to specialise (work on, neck muscles and everything etc).
I would say I have good fitness and know some with excellent, but they don't have a hope in hell of drving an F1 car. Physically.

And even if they pass that test they will find it even more difficult on anti-clockwise tracks like Interlagos.

I agree that they would have to work on neck muscles, but if F1 drivers have to be so physically fit. How was JPM able to race in F1 than?

Usain Bolt ate chicken nuggets before his World Record breaking run... maybe Juan actually got fitter on the number of hotdogs he ate?

Fitness levels ITV an UK tV channel ran a Sport versus Sport fitnes challenge.. the guys coming out on top were the Rally drivers, F1 were behind footballers and athletes. Typical running, jumping, riding a bike, and climbing walls type of TV games.

Montoya was not poorly fit... and in fact I can bet that even JPM was able to play not one, but two football matches (at reasonable mediocrity) in a day during his F1 yrs. While even the fittest football player would not be able to do a race distance (at reasonable mediocrity), without crashing due to either fatigue, the neck giving up or the brain shutting down for a 'split second' due to lack of oxygen.

You want to talk strictly fitness, think about that 'Iron Man' stuff and those extreme distance swimming or marathon guys... not football players. They need to be fit, but they need MUCH more ability than fitness to be great.

I can play 6 football matches a day with my mates. Doubt i would last 10 minutes in the EPL.
Footballer is not fit enough to drive F1, a F1 driver is not fit enough to play football. There you go, problem solved.
