my mate was saying the car coming out the pit is meant to have right of way, but i hadnt heard of that rule i think it was just racing.

me personally i would have left it as nothing more than a racing incident seeing as none of the two cars involved were damaged and it would not have had any affect of the race itself

Today's stewarding was appalling! Raikkonen should have been given a drive-through (at the least) instantly. There was no way that wasn't his fault and, once again, he was the cause of Sutil losing a great result and Force India losing their first points.

Yeah, I'm surprised the stewards didn't decide there and then, they should not be making these decisions after the race. I know we should not have silly penalties dished-out left, right and centre, but Kimi should get one as just deserves after he got away with driving into the back of Sutil at Monaco last year, it's dejavu!!

Normally i would expect Ferrari to get away scot free with an incident like this (as they have done in the past) but since its been Ferrari who has caused most of the fuss about the budgets caps etc for next season im wondering if they actually will get some kind of penalty this time

ok just to clear this up AFAIK within the rules a driver defending his lead is allowed to protect his lead something like three times is it not before he has to let the overtaking car pass? or am i talking nonsense?

i seem to remember something like this in the rules but cant remember it 100%

Not that its never been said before...but when you ask drivers to push their cars to the absolute limits, or even past them, people are going to bump into each other now and then. If you dish out stupid penalties every times there is contact, the drivers won't race as hard. Then there won't be overtaking, and there will be tons of fans commenting on how boring it is.

Just let the drivers drive. If there is clearly intentional contact I can understand punishments. Otherwise let them race.

This was actually so far over the final straw for me.

In the GP2 race, the stewarts gave a drive through to Petrov who was a lap away from being entangled in an epic battle for the lead. The penalty was for tagging someone of the start. No damage done, no one annoyed. So we were basically robbed of a battle for the lead, between two of the championship contenders, for incident that meant nothing. It was pathetic, and the fact was, the stewarts were wrong. There was no opinions about it, the stewarts were just wrong, because that did not warrant a penalty.

Then in F1, they go and do exactly the same thing. Its a joke.

The stewarts are clearly uneducated amateur armchair experts, who know nothing about the series that their governing.

If Ari Vatanen doesn't become head of the FIA, it'll be an outrage. It's about time that armchair experts stop running this sport.

True, perhaps even get some EX drivers to be stewarts as well would be a good thing, or at least people with some sort of experiance
