Who actually won the FOTA - FIA standoff? It seems that FOTA are carrying on as if they won completely, and Mad Max is out. But Mad Max is continuing on as if the teams are signed up, and he has full power, in which case he won. So what is the true situation?

Well according to that article, FOTA cannot change anything unless the non member teams agree, so I suppose that Mosley has went against everything agreed because FOTA will not get the unanimous agreement it seeks.

Don't you think that is fair though? Why should the 8 FOTA teams be able to dictate rules effectively giving the non-FOTA teams no say!

As I said in another thread; the Formula One Teams Association can't really exist unless it covers all teams involved in the championship!
Williams and Force India need to be readmitted and the three new teams admitted... or else it will become the MTA (manufacturer teams association).

As much as I feel FOTA should be given a say, I do agree that it is only right that the other teams have a say in the rules. I was merely stating that Max has been able to pull a fast one.

I wouldn't necessarily say he pulled a fast one, it's only fair that all teams have an equal say... I'm just saying that if the five teams are left out of FOTA then it smacks of being an old boys club, the name Formula One Teams Association in itself should mean it represents all F1 teams, I have no reason to believe that Manor will be the FIA's pet!

I think this comes back to the original question of who actually won, because from where i'm standing it appears that nothing has changed.

I do agree with you about FOTA, we'll see if they and combat the FIA by readmitting Williams and Force India and trying to influence the other teams.

Time will tell.

Time will tell.

Indeed it will, I'm interested to see where it'll leave F1 and FOTA if Max Mosley decides to follow through with his threat to re-stand in October if an apology doesn't come!

I agree, nothing has really changed; I don't believe anyone truly wins with the exception of Ecclestone who is counting his ever increasing pot of gold!

You strike another question. That being the long term security of FOTA. I mean i've said this countless times, some of its members have no long term ambitions to stay in F1. Renault and Toyota for example.

Many people on here hail FOTA as the all seeing, all knowing messiah of F1 but in reality with the exception of Ferrari, most of them have no loyalty to F1; they will leave when it no longer suits their commercial requirements. I find it quite funny as the two most vocal members of FOTA, John Howett and Flavio Briatore are the principles of teams that may not even be on the grid for 2010. Toyota especially with the announcement of Fuji not hosting F1 races from 2010; that brings up questions about the F1 team!

Ferrari are not loyal !They have held F1 to ransome on many occassion to suit their own agenda. McLaren have more loyalty than Ferrari . But the question should be where does the loyalty lie? Until very recently Ferrari's has layn fairly and squarely on whats best for Ferari..not F1.
Briatore plays his own game thats for sure, but so does mosely so maybe a Briatore character is required.
THE WHOLE THING IS poo COS IS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT MOTOR RACING
