As said above the McLaren F1 is closely related to a race car and the Veyron is basically is luxury GT. But given a decent manual gearbox and shed alot of the mod cons to reduce weight and we could well see more a 1/4 mile drag competition. If I was on a track day; I'd take the McLaren; if I were travelling across Europe; I'd take the Veyron!

why would a manual gearbox make a difference? i can guarantee that box in the Veryon would be quicker at changing gears than any driver!

I believe that manual gearboxes don't make the best of gear shifts, shifting at the correct time for maximum acceleration etc.

Yup, the Veyron essentially has two gearboxes to help it's acceleration even further FFS!! :P

Shed a ton of unnecessary weight from the Veyron and it would piss all over the F1, oh wait . . . . . :hehe:

See above... i don't think you could shed that much from a Veyron imo. Regardless of weight, it should have totally had it in the first place, 400hp more, 4 turbos more, TC and 15 years of other improved technology...?!?!

so did we just see Schumacher in a McLaren?

traction control turned off wouldnt have made a difference for the Veryon. The Veryon is a luxury super fast tank while the F1 is a racers road car.

don't schui own two hotels in the area?

stick a better gear box and a few turbos on that McLaren and you'd see it piss all over the veyron.

it is Still the Fastest NA car in the World

an amazing feat considering its age.

Yeh like i said tho the Veyron is a car thats been turbo'ed to the hilt and is brand new compared with a car 10 years old.

and it didn't clobber it, i even though the Mclaren had it pegged for abit

So, apparently the particular Veyron they used is owned by a guy who has ragged it and the launch control etc is knackered, while the McLaren F1 had engineers working on it before hand. I have no reason to think the guy who told me this is lying, but he does think the Veyron is the be all and end all so i think he might have exaggerated that one a bit...
