Flavio Briatore has said Fernando Alonso is welcome back at Renault should the Spaniard wish to return.
Alonso's future has been the subject of much speculation of late. According to rumours either he's going to leave McLaren at the end of the season or the Woking team is going to give him the boot.
But should either circumstance play out Alonso won't be without a drive for long as his former team would "love" to have him back.
"I can't deny that I think Fernando is great but he has a contract with someone," Briatore told Spanish sports daily Marca.
"He is very special. We had a special relationship at Renault and it was always transparent. Although he signed for McLaren we continue to be friends.
"Of course I would love to have him in the team, I think everyone would want Fernando because he is exceptional."
Alonso won both his World titles in 2005 and 2006 with Renault and Flav agrees with Spanish fans that Alonso could be better off at Renault.
"So do I," he said when told about the Spanish supporters' opinions. "You don't have to be Spanish to think that."
There's also another story on the site where Heikki Kovalainen says it's "only a matter of time" before FA wins this season's title. Another one straight from the Renault PR room.
I think they'll get him back, and team him with HK, leaving Fisichella in no-mans-land.
