1. Alonso, as others have said already, I believe him to be the most complete driver on the field. Hes fast, overtakes well, and is extremely consistent.
2. Raikkonen, though I have seen little to impress me lately, back in his McLaren days he was amazing. (Probably my least favorite driver on the grid.)
3. Hamilton, great when he's in a fast car, terrible when he's not. (His qualifying performance this weekend was shameful compared to Heikki.)
4. Button, finesse and consistency. He overtakes well too, but its hardly noticed because its usually in the first few laps.
5. Massa, hes just good.

Both Sutil and Fisichella really impress me, did anyone see Fisichella's double overtake at Silverstone this weekend? It was simply ridiculous. I think they are both under-rated because of their ride.
Sebastian Vettel, he has won 3 races in a year and a half and everyone is throwing him up as a top 5? Red Bull obviously had the best car this weekend, and because Jensen had a bad qualifying session, he was really just racing against Webber and Barrichello, two old men who have lost their pace. I'm not saying that he's not extremely talented, because I think he is, but he has made a number of big mistakes this season, Albert Park, Monaco, Turkey... Its way too early to be calling him the next Schumacher. (This is not to say that I don't still love the guy)

The Toro Rosso last year wasn't the best car by a long shot and still he won Monza in the rain - legendary drive.

it wasnt the shabbiest in the wet either. legendary? na!

nonbody rate's jenson then ? :hehe::thumbup:

You got that right, he's talented but this season it's only through his car, It's just dominant, not equal.

Only his car  how come he's won 6 more races than his team mate! I don't think he's had any accidents, contact, spins or anything this season either... maybe in practice? Can't think of any though. :scratchchin:

Actually, now i've put it like that... :hehe:

Yeah your 100% right there, but compared to consistent talent? Massa on Sun? Talent! he brought that car back to life :yikes:

I feel ya. Vettel had to race against Kovalainen,Bourdais and Webber in Monza last year. Yeah, he is better than THEM

1. Takuma Sato- Somebody should bring that guy back.
2. Mark Webber- Probably the most persistant guy (alongside Jenson) on the grid at the moment. Finally reaping the rewards for all the hard work.
3. Rubens Barichello- I just like the guy.
4. Fernando Alonso- Persistant, arrogent, individual, brings an element to F1. And you don't win 2 WDC's for going slow.
5. A mix between Trulli and Kubica

Honorable mention to Vettel, Button and Sutil.

I think Fisichella underrated himself when he let Heikki beat him. When he had the best car, he didnt do terrible, but nothing to get hyped with. For the last 2 seasons he has been showing his strenghts in a weak team, but i dont think they are enough to win a title... great drive by Fisi in Silvestone regardless!

Vettel is good. Better than many! he was pretty close to pulling an amazing result in swamped Fuji '07... then the win in Monza, that was out of this world. And when he had the best car... did you see the gap he was building in Silverstone stint 1?? with the heaviest load...

Button... he's very good. I'm amazed with his un-nerveness and concentration. But still has a bit of the stigma associated with terrible cars for so long! Maybe after a few good seasons...

Massa, if he beats kimi this yr then i'll bump him up in my list!

Yes that is why I like Vettel so much as he seem's to be afraid to lift and will push his car and his nerve to the limit which imho is the sign of a truelly great driver or is it just because he is young and feels invinsible?[/quote]

Mmmm not sure?

My list fluctuates with the only constant being lewis at the top. Its so hard to keep the car, and whether you like the guy, out of the equation. So my list is currently based on if they were all in the same car and the FIA didnt cheat and were not over zealous about punishing guys for racing

1. Lewis
2. Alonso
(that bit was easy, now it gets harder)
3.Webber
4. Massa
5. Button.(I guess on this years form)

Kimmi hasnt impressed me this year. Vettel??? He doesnt set me on fire but he was ace at Silverstone, if he continues in that vein id have to move him up the list. Kubica i used to rate but have gone off.

You can really tell who the Lewis fans are in this thread. While I think he is definitely amongst the top 3, I dont think he is the best driver on the grid.

Mine would be Alonso, and a close one between Kimi and Lewis for 2nd. I think Kimi would easily be 2nd if he only applied himself more often, but hey thats just what I think.

Well thats cool. I think Kimi is capable of being higher but just isnt at the moment.

Even though I put Lewis at the top of my list; he isn't my favourite; If we are talking favourites it would read!

(1) Jenson Button (2) Mark Webber (3) Lewis Hamilton (4) Robert Kubica (5) Rubens Barrichello.

I believe that given equal equipment Lewis would win the WDC over the other four drivers I mentioned!

I think this is pretty much impossible to do when you have to take all the different cars and setups and fuel loads ETC into account...
With that said, my top five (in no order) would probably be:

Vettel - he's not the mot consistent, but when he's on good form, he's awesome. Consistency will hopefully come with time.
Hamilton - nearly always puts up a good fight, no matter where he is in the pack. Does make some silly mistakes, but we've seen less of those so far this year, I think.
Webber - always very consistent, and getting ever closer to that first win he well deserves.
Massa - he's managed to impress me more and more.
... and then I get stuck XD

I haven't included Button because I think that a lot of his success this year (not all, but a lot) is down to the car. Saying that, he's still dominating over Barichello, but I think that's because the car maybe suits JB better than RB.

Yes.
Kimi definately needs to apply himself more. But won't.
